I have an old trial account from about a year ago when I was confused about EVE and never really gave it a chance. I'm trying it again and am really enjoying it this time, however the other account has the name I'd really like. Is there a way to inexpensively activate that account, just long enough to delete that character? Lookin' good, good-lookin'. |

The only thing i can think about is using a plex to reactivate the account, IF you have enough ISK to do so. As far as i know it takes a long time to actually delete the character, so the 4 hours you have to plex it would not be enough time.

or just PLEX that account, trade all your stuff to it, and continue playing (letting the "new" account lapse, edit or keeping both active). Worst case is you're a year-old newbie ... but that happens. One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia Malcanis for CSM8 |

Deleting that character will not allow you to re-create a newone with the same name.

as said above deleateing will not free up the name. go to acount managment and activate hours for plex. it will give you a few hours free to sort tnings on your char and can be done once without a gm authorization. |

Hours for PLEX is probably your best option, it gives you 4 free hours. |

Yes it will.
OP: You will need to activate the account fully in order to delete a character on it. There is a 10 hour (?) cool down on bio-massing characters.
If you really like the name, why not just upgrade and play your old trial? |

Wrong.
Biomassing a character DOES free up the name for re-use. When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Professional Forum Thread locker. |

There could be one workaround, that may work.
Get 4 hours for PLEX. Log on. Start biomassing character. Stay logged in for 10 hours. Complete biomassing. Log off.
The way hours for PLEX works, they do not log you off after 4 hours. Your option for hours for PLEX will disappear in account management, but they let you stay logged in that one time (I think).
There may be ethical issues in doing this, may even be considered an exploit, thus I do not recommend this course of action. Happiness is a warm gun, mama. |

In correct.
After 4 hours your account will be disabled again and you will loose connection to the server. When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Professional Forum Thread locker. |

After 4 hours your account will be disabled again and you will loose connection to the server. My post was based on personal experience. I availed hours for PLEX, got involved in the game, and did not realize that 4 hours were up. After another half hour I suddenly remembered and applied a PLEX. Evidence.
Everything was ok till after many months I needed to use hours for PLEX and the option was not available to me in account management. I looked at all the past account transactions and figured out the issue. A petition sorted the problem.
It is possible CCP have made changes recently and what I suggest is maybe no longer possible. It was doable a year ago. Happiness is a warm gun, mama. |

::From personal experience with this very character::
What you can do is petition CCP about exactly this, that you want to delete your character on another account to free up the name. I can't remember which Category you should petition in, I believe I chose the wrong one anyways. Once you prove ownership of said account they'll give you a 24-hour window to log in, biomass and then delete him. Which will immediately free up your name aswell.
Hope this helped, Bellum. |

The GM's weren't nearly that nice and have expressed that the only way I can remove that character is "to purchase a full month." I didn't realize that CCP was such an all-or-nothing company. I tried the hours for PLEX thing, but the GMs called it abuse and I can't complete the biomass, nor will they assist me in doing so. Lookin' good, good-lookin'. |

Well in their defense they first told you that you need to purchase a full month to do it, then tried to go behind their backs and finding a loop hole despite what they said.
But now people can find the answer to this question if it ever comes up again, so thank you for clarifying it for us
Im sorry they could not help you out tho. But now you can decide weather or not you want to just keep using that old account since you have to reactivate it anyway.

That's a bummer. CCP, like any other business, has their rules & guidelines and I guess some GM's are more lenient than others. Sorry to hear that you had to encounter one of the more literal types.
Hope you'll keep playing with your new characer though, Bellum |

It was actually the other way around. It wasn't until I tried Hours for PLEX that I was informed that there was no cheap method of temporary activation for what I wanted to accomplish. Lookin' good, good-lookin'. |
