What is the fastest way to gain security, i have a character with -2.5 sec that i would like to get to 0.0+ Im doing lvl3 missions with him but i only seem to gain sec on every 100 rat or so that i kill.
I dont have access to 0.0 so hunting there wouldnt help me much.
To me it seems that it would be quicker to start a new char even tho he's got 4m sp.
I know "you do the crime you do the time" applies, but isnt this a bit extreme? I wanted to try piracy, but didnt like it, and now im kinda stuck :/ |

Killing NPC battleships. And even then the gain is slow.
It used to be that if you had a negative sec status, it would "degenerate", gradually reaching 0. I believe alternate methods to gain neutral status are needed, or at least specific agents/missions for lawless pirates so that they can work on their status. But only up to 0, we don't want the whole "CONCORD GRINDING FTW" thing again... people with 10 in standings all over the place :/ ---
Is this a constructive thread? |

Also, I think you can enter secure space again after you pass the -2.5 mark. Or was it -2? ---

So by activly running lvl3's, getting to 0.0 would take me about 3 to 4 months? That's just great... 4 months in jail for trying out piracy.
I guess i have to remember not to drop the soap for the next 4 months then.....

Shucks, it just isn't fair for you to have any consequences for potentially ruining other peopleÆs fun and destroy their hard earned ships and equipment!
You should petition this!
Maybe you should start an ex-pirate support groupā

There is no reason to turn this into a rant about PvP, or Player rats.
This debate is so old, my Grandma knows how it goes, and can sing along with it.

Yes from -2.5 you could do it very quickly. After the patch I find npc'ing boosts your sec status quicker than before. -----------------------------

Edited by: Romano Solaris on 13/09/2005 20:58:27 Compelxs, BS bosses and keyolders give 0.8% gain,
Level 4 missions, some of the NPC BS give a 0.8% gain (Guristas 400k ravens are one...)

Your security status shouldn't go down if you shoot someone with a negative rating.

Wrong.
Only if they're -5 or lower, does it not go down. -- Proud member of the [23].

If they're criminals they're criminals, none of these layers in hell, make them all open targets and being naughty would be something people thought twice about.

It Dante had that attitude, we wouldn't read Inferno in school. And I liked Dante. ------ I generally assume the following: 1. 95% of Empire Carebears don't get 0.0 PVPers. 2. 95% of 0.0 PVPers don't get Empire Carebears. 3. 100% of Ore Thieves steal just to upset the Miners. |

Keep whatever features there are for criminals against NPC. Just don't punish lawabiding denizens by lowering their security status for taking potshots at people with negative security status. Other than the usual Concord response if in the improper place.

Just go to a random 0.1-0.4 system of your choise and do level 4 kill missis. Your sec status should rise fairly fast enough.

Just the same, you can't go out and do vigilante justice in modern countries. Same idea applies. If you want to go do this, look at 0.0

Okay, sometimes my 0.0 access points are blockaded, and i like to stay under -2.0 security. When this happens i go to a .1 .2 .3 sector with plenty of belts, and NPC for a few hours.
If you can dedicate yourself for about 2-3 days to NPCing, you can get a lot of that security back. Its better than doing missions and waiting 3-4 months to regain the sec.
Make sure you try hunting in .1 .2 if you cant do 0.0, theres a chance you might see an "Officer" npc, and if you kill him he may drop something really good, like a named implant.
Look on the map for the nearest .1 .2's and click "Show info" on them to see how many roid belts they have. Get one that has OVER 10 belts and your golden, thats the best advice i can give I guess.
Good luck.

Yes, I'd skill 'fast talk' and kill BS. Before I killed BS, my sec rating was almost neutral although I've killed a lot of angels in hundreds of missions. In level.4 missions my sec. rating went up to 1.7. Now I'm only a few weeks in 0.0 space and I've got a sec rating of 5.0.

go to lowsec, kill belt rats, lots of them.
Of course you will want to bash battleships as they give the biggest gain.

Run complexes. They give a lot more security status gain than normal npc hunting does, with the same amount of work.

-3.9 to get in to .6 or less. -4.4 or less for .5 My goal is to get my main char back to -3.9 from -5.4...
