Hey
I have a problem with the CPU-usage of EVE on my computer. When I start the game it goes up to 100% and stays there. If I then click on the desktop (bringing the EVE window out of focus) it goes down to 2% (even though EVE is still running). If I then click on the EVE window the usage jumps to a 100% again.
Can it be right that EVE uses 100% all the time? I have: AMD 64 3200+ Geforce 5900XT 1024 MB RAM
I would normally have no problem with the high usage, but after having played long enough, the CPU-temp is 70 degress, which is too high.
I have asked in the Rookie-room online - and there is a few other AMD users who also have a 100% CPU usage.
I'm sorry if this has be answered before - but I could'nt find any similar topics.

does the same for me. i think it might just be bad programming. I play on my laptop these days. 1.6 ghz pentium-M, a fairly speedy chip. plugged in, running full 1.6ghz, and eve takes 100%. i unplug, and go enforced SLOW mode for battery life (no adaptive crap here) and it fixes the CPU at what windowsxp reports as 223mhz(probably incorrect, but who knows) and EVE takes 100%, but heres the kicker, IT STILL PLAYS THE SAME!!! same framerate, same responsivness. Sure in fleet battles it will prolly lag more, but still. come on.

Edited by: CelticKnight on 14/09/2005 10:13:24 whats ur SvHost doing.. after i closed last night... i noticed my SvHost sitting flatstick on 100%. is it the eve app doing it (ctrl+alt Delete- Processes. CPU.. :))
eves a hungry thing i know, but ive NEVER had the client hit more than 80% and thats on a 3200+ K7 (512DDR)
Ok just checked it with my own task manager. Odd. it used to use 80% before the patch. now it sets flux between 80-60. average on 30sec about 65%.. err thanks CCP.. you just swiped 20% off my CPU usage... :) very nice!
thats odd that a 64bit uses mreo than a 32bit CPU...

It's extremely weird. I have just about tried all combinations in the graphic-options - without any luck

I have 64-Athlon (3500+), 1.5Gb memory.
If Eve is a "background" task the whole PC has around 20% CPU utilisation. This is even with the Eve window open and graphics showing. To see this, have Eve in windowed mode, open some other app and then minimise that app. Then open the task manager and check the CPU use (mine is 10-20% and 60-70% when using a jump gate for a few seconds).
However, just click on the Eve chat panel for instance and my whole PC CPU goes to 100% and stays there.

That is my problem EXACTLY
Can anyone explain the extreme CPU-usage?

What is the frame rate in eve like when it is in the background? (use CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+M)
