I am about to build this month a new system that is a 64 bit system. Going to use a Ath 64 X2 proc, WinXP 64, and about 2 gig of ram. Also going to run a SLI setup for video.
Any gotchas here for Eve (x64 or SLI)???

probably not with eve... but ive heard XP 64 has major issues with alot of other programs and acts funky with some hardware. SLI actually makes eve slower as EVE is HIGHLY Cpu limited. Ie. cpu limited on a FX 57.

I have a 64-bit AMD chip myself, along with 2 partitions, one with XP 32 and the other with XP 64.
The main problem I run into with the x64 Edition of XP is that there are limited drivers, mostly in the field of hardware emulation.
For your graphics card, assuming it is a relatively new and popular one (although I wouldn't know any older cards that used SLI :P), you will have drivers for it that work just fine.
And so, ignoring all other insane things that randomly happen in Windows sometimes, EVE will run fine.
Do yourself a favor though and save yourself the frustration I faced: Install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of XP Pro on separate partitions. This way, you can run apps and games at lightning speed in x64, and then resolve driver issues in 32.

What the problem is indeed the driversupport for WindowsXP64, these drivers are in a developementstage and can and i know... they wil cause problems.
ive been playing EVE on a 64bit windows for some time but i see no improvement in speed or Crashing.
Good luck with your system! i would recommend a 32bit OS instead of the 64 bit, the 64bit is far from complete.

Well I was thinking that a x64 proc would needs to run a 64 bit OS to get the most out of it. If there is no performance increase, I might just install 32 bit OS instead.
SLI would probably be 2x 6800GT BFG cards
