Edited by: Dave Day on 13/09/2005 23:33:03 I was just looking at the features section on this site and read this:
"KALI, a codename for EVE Onlines second major expansion. The Cold War edition of EXODUS brings rising tension between the Empires in the world of EVE and KALI will bring the results of the recent hostilities. Factional warfare is the hot topic in KALI,......"
So we're heading toward an inter factional war? I wonder how well that will play out with the many multi factional corps and players (like me) who have set up shop in another faction's space, not to mention that some factions greatly outnumber others. (Yes, i'm a slavery loving minority Amarrian)
Early days and nothing set in stone I know, but would anyone care to speculate on what's likely to come in this regard with Kali? Are CCP going to "cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war?" ??

Edited by: burningsquid on 13/09/2005 23:29:08 I would love a full on faction war, the more disruptive the better. I really hope this happens.

I think they have a lot of restructuring to do before they can have empire wars. I mean right now it's pretty ridiculous with agent placement etc. I have 3 Gallente research agents, 2 are in Caldari space, 1 in Amarr - and I doubt those are the only major assets that are in unpractical locations if there ever is a war with your neighbors :)

CCP did nothing from day one up to now to encourage race warfare. To FORCE it on players now would be a serious mistake in terms of real-world money.
In short, this would make more customers unhappy than happy. Role-players are an insignificant minority.

Correction: Shiva is the god of destruction. Source: http://www.sanatansociety.org/hindu_gods_and_goddesses/shiva.htm
Kali is the goddess of time and death, and spouse to Shiva.

They can (by can I mean 'will be able', not 'will be allowed by me' because I can't make them do anything) start having faction wars (which will clearly mean lots of heavy battles and raids) when they can have 200+ ships fighting in the same area with only a little lag. Most battles wouldn't get that big so it'd be a nice buffer. _____________________________________________ Assassin for hire. Low level, low prices. |

Which race was allied to whom again? I forgot and I can't seem to find the little news blurb about it from way back when.

They changed the map for this. Armarr - Caldari, Gallente-Minmatar.
Everything like the new pirate factions giving you sec hits for agent running will be making the setup perfect! Reading the Player news Player news

It depends how it is implemented, for example if players wishing to engage in factional warfare have to join an NPC corporation, or a corporation has to join an "NPC alliance".
Say, Caldari Navy have a permanent empire war declared with Gallente Navy?
That's not effecting the vast majority of players, only those who in effect, signup or apply to get involved

So does that mean, for example, that all the Quaffe stations will be pulled out of Caldari space?

this is what i'm expecting if you do missions, you will get a lot of 'if you fail or get captured, your on your own' you might see scripted or GM events(of Caldari getting shot to hell because their missiles can't hurt a fly anymore, oh wait thats just their Raven 'I win buttons' :P ) |

ok 2 things
1. Kali is considered to be the destroyer of evil spirits and the preserver of devotees.
that sounds like what we think it is.
2. Last build was called shiva! so it might just be that kali comes after shiva and has no meaning at all!

Bingo, you actually think CCP would have the balls to really introduce corporate responsibility for their standings ? Of course not, it would offend too many people that are barely able to handle eve's already terrible difficulty and complexity now.. _______________________________________________

The "War" will no doubt consist of well written, intelligent faction based news items which add colour and depth to the gaming experience but have absolutely no relevance to any players in the slightest.

Podpilots don't really have a "citizenship". In a way, podpilots form the "sixth" empire, individuals who swear allegiance to no-one but themselves. An Amarr podpilot is fully capable of working for the minmatar navy... ---
Is this a constructive thread? |
