Just thought I'd share this Review as Eurogamer are my favourite reviewers.
They gave a lowdown of eve-online today. Nice chat about whats going on in eve in the last 28 months.

A tad one-sided and of course far from complete, it's still a vey nive reviuew that for once goes into what's so special other then what's the newest ship to be added to Eve. _______________________________________________

Nice review, of course it's very pro-eve but it focuses on the right message about the game i.e. it's all about pvp and risk vs reward.

Hmm, I guess ive been carebeared then cause I think iot's about player accomplishment, not by definition about shooting stuff. It's about the reasons we come up with to do it all, not about the kills.
But yeah, whatever, good review cause it for once didn't do the usual comparative way of summing up individual content features rather then describing how the gameplay is so different from other games. _______________________________________________

Agreed, however it's refreshing when people revisit games that have been out after x months to look at how they're doing. Do this kind of "28 months later" type of review with any other game, and the ones that come out smelling like roses would be in the minority.
Part of the review's problem is length. I've always thought that there's no way to really review EVE in less than 3 very full pages of focused writing.

3 ?
I cant even describe the eve market in 3, let alone the whole game :/ _______________________________________________

Sorry, my fault for not being clear and using an overused term to which I ascribe a slightly different meaning than the generally accepted one. When I say 'pvp' I mean that in the broadest terms and perhaps would be better saying specifically 'player versus player competition in all it's guises'. I didn't just mean blowing stuff up, I mean empire building, competing for resources, industrial espionage, influencing the market and competition between players on all fronts.
I think the article clearly explains what a crucial part of Eve pvp is in the above context and why that is a key factor in distinguising Eve from most other MMOGs.

It's written by Jim Rossignol (Linkage). He's written about Eve a few times here and there, both in the printed mags like PC Gamer, and online. Like many of us, I guess, he just can't help but come back to Eve.
There's another nice Eve-related article here. It's early days for the magazine, but I've enjoyed reading it so far.

Stop arguing kids, everyone knows that it takes 9 2/7 pages to write a good review.

Rod and I go way back anyway, so neither of us takes anything we say to each other personally, or seriously.

Well, speaking personally, I will welcome our new Wal*Mart overlords with open arms. Especially if it means I get beer and stuff a bit cheaper.

A nice, but brief article. Still my personal favorite was the PC Gamer article about the GHSC hit on UQS, mianly due to that article being what finally showed me that the box doesn't lie when it says you can do -anything-.
I hope that some well-known mags do an article on this game before Kali comes out, then about a month or 2 after it is released. Would show how much things can change in a game like this, and would be killer for getting new players.

I love this part of the article. Couldn't be more true
Originally by: Eurogamer.net article Guilds in other games might give you a bit of role-playing geek, or just someone to quest with, but the corporations of Eve give you allies, enemies, plots, strategies, trading partners, backstabbing, financial enterprises and drunken Irishmen arguing with a surly Texan about the merits of fitting an electronic-warfare ship.

It is very true. In many ways, your corp IS Eve.

"from the immense station-killing dreadnoughts, to the tiniest, cheapest frigate; everything is being given a role."
This is what we know all along that even new to old have a place in EVE, so there is no need to HAVE to catch up like in other MMORPG's

eve plots its own course - the big thing is CCP do what they can in a balanced way to explore player ideas - suggestions etc.
