A pretty simple idea. Basically if a player stands no chance against an attacking pirate, they're only hope would be from the hospitality of nearby players by using their distress signal. Granted you could get the same effect by typing in local but not everybody looks there all the time.
It could either be a module, or built into the ship...maybe cost ISK to avoid spam. Allows players to warp to the signal like a deadspace beacon. Could only be used in .4 space and below (or maybe just 0.0 even). Course you risk just attracting more unwanted attention, but hey that's the price you pay

Sounds like a good idea. Shouldn't be a module, just a button on the ships UI and it costs the same as a convo or evemail to press. Would have to get rid of the "are you sure you want to spend a WHOLE ISK????" box though, cos nobody wants to fiddle around with buttons when they are under attack

seems to be a nice idea, nevertheless in my opinion it will be very rarely used :) but anyway, it would be nice to have Weenies test. Geniuses solve problems that arise.

Edited by: Zarek Osmabruck on 15/09/2005 09:48:07 hmm another button on the UI Great idea, but maybe just send out on a trigger i.e. 75% struct and the distress call is auto-triggered and you can disable it if you want. And as for the unwanted help, could prove to be useful for those PvPer who seem to love to hang in deadspace until an easy meal seems to come by...

rofl, gonnae fun that.
I can already see the pirate camps using a neutral alt in a velator in their middle to send out distress calls hopping to draw the anti-pirate do gooders into a warp bubble trap.

you mean tricking people isn't allowed anymore?
Rufus is right, but it's the risk you take going to help people.

Sounds like a good idea but if it was a player pirate attacking you, surely they would get the distress call too and destroy you for sending it?

Knowing low sec, sending a distress would just draw more pirates. Its like throwing blood in the water to ward off sharks.
What would be good is a distress signal that only goes to your corp/alliance.

put this in, newbie's will love it when they come under attack by rats in their frigate lol. Then a message in the top-middle + center of the screen (where dmg stats appear) shud just say "Cyberstrike2027 has sent out a distress signal from X plant Belt 2" or what ever I'm in proximity to.
Man, this wud be uber cool
