I'm a carebear. I prefer to solo. This doesn't fit Eve obviously. The game is beautiful though and I enjoyed seeing space from the Eve perspective. Hope you all have a good time and take care.

Entirely your choice mate, if you're not happy, you just have to move on.
Best of luck bud, hopefully you'll find a game that fits your playstyle.

If you carebear it up in a group, you'll have a lot more fun. A large portion of the playerbase chooses to play that way.

I will never understand the reason people play a "multi-player game" and then wonder why it isn't set up to let them play it solo.
This is like paying for a ticket to a rock concert, wearing earplugs so you can have peace and quiet, and then complaining because its "so loud in there".
What do you expect from a MMORPG but a natural engineering towards exactly that?

well, in eve for a while myself, i've got my 2 ppl corp (myself + my alt) , but that doesnt mean i dont like to interact with other ppl in a MMORPG. I met good/bad ppl in more than 2 years, and i hope to continue to meet them
You can still play eve solo if you wish, either in starting npc corp or by creating your own.
You can consider also the people you meet in space just a "really advanced A.I. npc" or well .... sometime maybe more like a "really badly programmed A.I. npc"
But still, i guess the point is that you just dont find EVE funny in general anymore , which is fair enough, as every game.

I play chess. It is a multiplayer game (albeit of two). I play against the other player. Not solo.
There are many multiplayer games like this. Just because it is a MMORPG does not imply that it is a MTORG (where T stands for team ).
Do you understand what I am saying. I have nothing against the fact that CCP appear to want Eve to be a team game, but they didn't say so by calling it multiplayer.

Why do some people go off into the woods for years on end? People are obviously a social animal, so it's like being born and then complaining about the people.
It takes all types to have a truely alive game. Who here wouldn't get a kick out of occasionally running into some crazy hermit living out in the middle of nowhere once in a while?
As to why someone would want to play an MMO solo, have any of you played single player RPGs? Anyone know what they all have in common? They end. An MMO, by constrast, keeps going so long as the dev team keeps adding content. FF4 you can beat in a week or two, and that game's over and your characters done. Eve, you can keep developing your character for years on end. That's the real draw of soloing MMOs.

Why the hell do people think EVE is not a solo game?
To be honest, I've soloed mostly from the start. Some of the richest people in the game have played solo. I do nearly everything solo.

The best bit about EVE is finding solo players and opening their eyes to the next dimension. with the right conditions people who used to be solo'ists suddenly turn into full blown fleet commanders :)
Ahhh only in EVE

Sometimes you can share too much. I particularly like the way the eyes roll up into the head, in this context.

Interesting....I was just telling corpmates how EVE is a single person game with a builtin instant messenger chat program.
pvp sucks incredibly. You know within 15 seconds who is gonna win the battle and the battle only takes that long in small battles and only goes longer in big battles and you generally know who is gonna win those in the same 15 seconds. Afterwards one side has won the other side has a week of mining to replace the ships they've lost. Sorry a week of effort destroyed in 15 seconds doesn't interest me. And we all also know pvp battles are NEVER equal. Which means they are even more boring. Running around playing tag electronically is more fun in FPS games. Least there you are roughly equal and your opponent comes back soon rather then waiting an hour for them to re-equip another ship or a week for them to earn another. The only pvpers that keep active are the gate gankers and 99% of them sit 150km off the gate and pop noobs. Still not very exciting. I have felt that adrenilen (sp?) that everyone talks about but it is so few and far between that it's just not worth it. Also it wasn't killing someone it was jumping in to find 4 campers right on the gate instead of in the usual sniper position. Got away and they followed me the first warp and if I had hesitated warping immediately again they would have likely had me. Was exciting, but then annoying as hell because I needed to go back that way and they and their friends were there for hours.
Mining is the only really good gang activity and you need friends to make it fun. Otherwise it's a mixed drink, watch tv while rocks are chewed up activity.
Missioning is better solo. The rewards aren't split and you aren't forced to go into a mission lvl you aren't ready for just to make the rewards worth it and npc's challenging. Going into that higher then you are ready for mission is a great way to watch several of your friends get their ships destroyed and no mission will pay for the loss of a bc.
Only time I think EVE might be better in a gang (and this is because I haven't tried it, but sounds fun) is when you all are highly skilled and in well setup bs's and doing high end complexes. Then the competition is on par with you and your friends and you are all in ships that can take a beating. Plus the rewards are good enough that everyone goes home with cargo hatches packed.
So yes I play solo almost exclusively. While chatting with other people ingame.

I know! CCP nerfed the Ibis again to keep us solo players out - I hate it
But seriously people saying you cannot solo this game either do not have the interest or will to do it solo. It can easily be done and sure that outpost is a bit far away. If you have the will to do it it is very much doable.
Why do I solo? Well at a point I felt that the politics and the view of my corp didn't suite me - some people will benefit better playiing the game as a multiplayer game but for me solo is the way to play it.
Do I feel left behind everyone playing in groups? No way, I got ships, modules, bpo's to last a lifetime and I think I can keep the pace quite good.
Do I lack all the fun multiplayer gameplay gives? It is what you make it, I have fun and interesting gameplay even if I am solo, I run mission, complexes, mining ops, manufacturing, POS.
And best of all I can do all the above whenever I want - whenever I feel like it - no politics - no "musts" - no nothing.
Hence why the solo gameplay fits me so good.
Bottom line, some players will benefit more solo, some more in multiplayer - it's all about what suites you the best.
