My next training decision is either to start the path to HAC or get a Ferox.
On the face of it, they seem very similar types of ship (ignoring the leadership modules and additional resistances).
Which would you go for and why?

Edited by: TI0 101 on 15/09/2005 16:21:22 it would depend on what support skills you have, can you use tech 2 gunz + equipment yet? if the answer is no, id stick with t1 equipment unitl you can.
EDIT: personally id go for ferrox or go straight for BS, as caldari hac's sux :P
go gallente / amarr

Edited by: Severe McCald on 15/09/2005 16:55:10 Just to clarify, I already have BS 5 and most support skills to 5 (Weapon Upgrades only at 3), Large Railgun Specialisation 4, New missiles skills mostly at 3 or 4 etc.
By all accounts the Ishtar and Diemos are the HAC's to have. Just goes against the grain to train Gallente .
Anyone keen on the Ferox (at all)?

I did a few lvl.4's in Ferox lately, to see if it's doable... it generally is, but when you run into something like Silence the Informant you spend more time warping in and out than actually fighting. ¼¼;;
Still, for NPC tasks Ferox is well worth training for, and with the gang modules might have some custom PvP use too. Very flexible and fun ship, good to ease in what you can expect from Raven, at fraction of cost.

I am madly in love with my Ferox. It is a great ship, and it does what I ask of her without complaint.
the thing that makes HACs > BC are the incredible resists on the HACs. Other than that they are on par.
It's true, Caldari HACs are questionable.

if you have large rail specitalization... train for t2 blasters, weapon upgrades lvl5 and buy a megathron...
with some tinkering you have ship better than any hac :)

In general, HACs will have an advantage over BCs. Of course, they cost 3-4 times what a BC costs and are not insurable, so go figure.

Edited by: Vishnej on 15/09/2005 19:57:39 A ferox takes something like 10% of the training time it takes to get a HAC. And they're fully insurable and cost a third as much. They employ entirely different niches in the level of experience their pilots have.
Go with a BC for now, a HAC when you have a few months to dedicate to training.

You need to look at the advantages that BCs have over HASs. The BCs got more high slots (i think, dont actualy fly them) and more room for fitting stuff. So the ideal mod would be NOS setups since they use high slots and use quite abit of PG to fit. And NOS setups beeing uber doesnt realy make the matter worse

Edited by: O''Sirius on 15/09/2005 21:10:18 Edited by: O''Sirius on 15/09/2005 21:08:44 A good pilot in a BC can do good against HACs. A good comparison is a Proph and a Zealot for example. I think a dmg fitted Proph can do about the same dmg as a Zealot(Zeal with full skill bonus is =6.7 turrets on a ship with no bonus, Proph has 6 and 1 launcher). Proph has more hp, Zeal has more resists. But Proph's resists aren't that bad either cause it has a resist bonus. Would be an interesting fight.
Only clear advantage that would justify Zeal's price that I can see is the fact hat its smaller and faster which makes it more effective against BSes.

Just wondering....with insurance apparently reflecting a ships price (according to CCP).....BC's are meant to be equal to HAC's?
Just a thought

The ferox is so easy to train for(take it to level 3) that you might as well get it first.
Its quite a tank. Obviously the Cerberous deal more damage, but it be near tank.
