Can someone please tell me what makes the harvester better than the elite?
They both mine 30 units/60 seconds. In fact, to me it seems the elite is much better. Why? For the simple reason it only takes up 50 m3 whereas the harv takes up 100 m3.
So what makes the harv better?

The price. Also, they're easier to find, and people with gallente ships (and a few others) won't have to worry about drone space. |

True that it may be but unfortunately CCP stopped all convoy drops with harvester drones in them. The elite mining drone takes less drone space (50 i think and harveter 100)and are slower flying(returing from and going to roid back and forth from vessel), but what does it matter when you park your ship 4k or closer from roids.

This is true, however if you have any other ship that isn't Gallente, then the Elites are better. harvesters are like rocking horse **** at the mo and they are going to be indefinately by the looks of it.
I would say that if you can get hold of the elites, then use them. in-game mail Askari or Brute for details on Harvesters if your interested...

I'm in a thorax with 2000 drone space and I still prefer elites because at my current skill 8, i can control my 8 elites, and since i had more room leftover I also have 6 heavy drones i can pop out when the pirates show up...and htey can take anything down to .3 sec

This is in regards to Bashar..
In a .3 Zone, 4 Med drones can keep just about any goup of ships safe. Granted 4 heavies provide that much more oomph. However if u know how to use drones, 4 mediums will do the trick and require alot less skill. Just while enemies come inkeep all your drones in your hold. Once all pirates have locked and Opened fire. Then deploy your drones. The pirates are stupid. They will not unlock you once they are firing on you. Then kick your shiled booster on and have fun watching your drones******the pirates. I use this solo mining in .3's all day long. Hope the advice helps.
