before you yell about how terrible it is, read how it is used, realize that it is 100% motion sensitive. Using two sensors on either side of your TV to detect any and all movement. Gives you the ability to control actions in the game with a flick of the wrist or a movement of the hand. It adds a new dimension to how you control the game and we can only really know how practical it is for gaming after trying it out for a while.

I think it looks quite cool. It looks ergonomic and Nintendo always have great joystick/controllers.

actually I kinda like the fact that they came up with something innovative. At first, I was like 'wtf.. what a stupid idea'.. but when you think about the features of this control (motion sensing), you'll realise how good it will be for all sorts of games, from golf, to fishing, to baseball.. etc. I think it's going to rock.

I like that they've basically made it like a remote control, and how turning it sideways it's like an old NES pad, but I have some concerns.
Battery life Frequency conflicts Range & response time The fact that the plug-in analog stick looks like a 1970s ***** Battery life with said lookalike of marital aid plugged in The fact that the console won't fit into my 9-slot ikea tv cabinet as it's a silly shape
TBH the life-cycle of this console will be just like the n64 and ngc: comes out, people like, people buy. Software houses pull out (usually due to either unfriendly dev tools, too much difficulty in porting code between systems, low sales, lower age of target market than sony and MS), less games, system becomes boring to lack of imaginative/new games, people forget about it.
Look at the gamecube - when it came out, people were raving about Mario sunshine, pikmin, f-zero. Then, under a year later, there were way less publishers & software houses developing for gamecube, and sales plummeted. It gets less shelfspace than the gameboy DS in my local asda. The main thing that will help nintendo with the Rev will be functionality of the system - hey, why not build in a TiVo or something innovative like that? That's what made the PS2 (dvd player) and X-Box (dvd player, hard drive and easy to hax0r) sell so well. It's all well and good having a funky modern design, but if there are only going to be ten great games (like the 'cube) no-one's going to buy it and nintendo will end up going out of business.
My recommendations to nintendo: Put a TiVo in it, give it a web browser, let it access iTunes or something and add a HDD - people will love that and they'll sell shedloads. The games can just be another feature (unless they buy Rare back from M$ ) |

Nintendo seem to be only concerned with making pathetric gimmicks where the novelty dies off within 2 months. ------------------------------

I really hope that control is a prototype. The joystick part looks to be well designed, however the remote control part needs some work. The button placements make it rather awkward to use, I can see that just by looking at it. They are too far apart and will either be uncomfortable to move your thumb to hit them or require constant repositioning of the controller in order to use them.
That part is almost like the N64 controller, I mean, who ever actually used the left portion of it?
And this seems like Nintendo might be trying to recreate another Power Glove, a controller I never really liked to begin with. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Ive been thinking a bit of the new controller, and i gotta admit the more i look at it, the more im starting to like it. For them to really pull it off, the controller needs to be extremly precise and no lag in response. If they can get that in place, i think it will start to change the way we use controllers. Kinda like a mouse that u can use in 3d. Thing that worries me a bit, is the strain it will put on the arm, as i reckon you will want to keep it unsupported for most the time.
Also, this IGN artice offered some intresting speculatins on how the controller might be in practise, as they had some access to a prototype for a few hours.

Regarding the battery life etc etc, that is gonna be no different for Nintendo as it will for Sony and Microsoft since they will both have wireless controllers as well. So I cant wee it being an issue.
It will be interesting to see how the motion sensors end up working but does look an awkward to use controller.
Gotta give props to Nintendo though, they alway innovate.. good luck to them.

some buttons may look out of place, thats because its meant to be able to turn sideways into an NES like gamepad. When held like a remote, A button lands right on the thumb, B button right on the index finger like a trigger two more Z buttons and analog stick on the attatchment.

Imagine a sword fighting game where you hold the control like a real sowrd and can perform "freeform" attacks and blocks, where as your limited to pre programmed moves with a standard controller.
I'll be getting a Revolution the morning they are relased, without a doubt. It'll go alongside my 360 which im also getting on release day, lovely
also, something to consider in terms of the usability and popularity of this control for the people who believe it will flop. This was quoted from a member of the Gamespot staff in their reaction to the control
Quote:
Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all want to tap into the mainstream audience, but with this new controller, Nintendo seriously has the best chance. The average person isn't willing to sit down and fiddle around with the contraptions we call controllers today. Heck, even some of the older controllers are too complex for some. Playing Super Mario Bros. with my mom, I always recall how she would wave the controller in the air hoping to make Mario jump or move to the right. The movement is so natural; we wave our hands back and forth everyday while talking, eating, hailing a taxi cab, and, from time to time, to actually to wave to someone.
