Like everything, it depends how long you plan to play, on your attributes, and mainly on what you want to do and how you want to play.
I'm not sure if you're after a mathematical answer, but heres some rough numbers. Payoff time is compared to stopping with lv4 learning.
With decent attributes (say 20+ primary/secondary) the payoff time is under 250days.
Attribs of ~15 take closer to a year to pay off (~325 days), and things get worse the lower your attributes are.
So basically, yes learning 5 is useful, but make sure you work on the other skills too, and get your attributes up as high as possible.

also if you train eidetic memory to lvl4 and the 2nd level intelligence skill to level 4, training learning 5 takes around 5 days. Without doing this it takes around 9 with base stats, depending on where your stats are. (+/- a day or so depending on where you put your extra points when rolling your char)
Train eidetic memory first, then intelligence, and all your learning skills go way faster since memory is primary, and intel secondary for all learning skills.
If I only knew this when I started LOL...

Edited by: Severe McCald on 16/09/2005 15:43:01 Have they changed the prereqs for the Advanced Learning skills? I seem to recall that Learning 5 used to be required to do them?
But then my memory has always been ****.
If it isn't a prereq. then I wouldn't bother, unless you think it will be a prereq. in the future (so you'll have to do it then), in which case you may as well have the benefit asap. Peeps keep talking about Advanced Learning, so ...
