i havnt tested this setup but it fitts on paper
5x t2 medium neutrons
1x Mwd 2x whatever
4x magstab2s 1x PDU
10x medium drones
the classic plate setup thats gona get a boost to i think... think you can fitt 5 t2 medium electrons and a 1600 plate with a T2 RCU
still dont get lower damage i think...
think people are gona continue to 'complain' about the thorax

They will complain....because simply put they dont like effective blasterboats being in the game in a balanced manner.
So, someone with the balls to fly a blasterboat will, if cpu comes up with grid on the Thorax "The next generation," still be able to dominate in alot of situations where you wouldn't think a tech 1 cruiser could.

Maybe wrong but sure its not Ion's? Don't think even a deimos can fit 5 nuetrons with 1 pdu.

and thus, R31D saw the new plans laid out before him, and he was pleased with them.
Great setup, I'm glad I'll finally be able to fit a decent Thorax setup, not just havingto use a plate setup. Will be fun to see how it works, that's for sure

Edited by: Sentani on 17/09/2005 11:44:29 you need AWU4...
just ran the math one more time... and you have to switch the PDU for a RCU it seems
you get 24 grid and 106.3 cpu left to play with...
so your standard web and jammer fitts perfectly into the two empty mid slots...
edit. heh just noticed that you can even squuese in a medium sheild booster...
so if you allready have tacklers you can put in a medium shiled booster and a capre...
just brainstorming but it will work in theory

You sure you got enough CPU for all that? Ive been testing with model neutrons, AB and a RCU and it leaves me with very little spare PG and abit of CPU

With Hammerhead I it's 72.
Base dmg x dmg mod / rof x number of guns/drones = dps
9 x 1.6 = 14.4 14.4 / 2 = 7.2 7.2 x 10 = 72 ---

991.2 pg 153.75 pcu for the guns
4 pg 120 cpu for the dmods
150 pg 50 cpu for the mwd
20 cpu for the RCU
thats 343,7 cpu and 1143,2 pg
and the ship..
850 pg x 1.25 x 1.10 = 1168
300 cpu x 1.50 = 450 cpu

MK2 T-Rax is a v nice ship, even in the plate + electron IIs config it lays down hurt like nobody's business.
MK2 brutix is also pretty evil... 7x ion IIs mwd injector scram web and repper with no grid mods. Sig of a moon when youre moving, but it allows you to experience almost deimos-like dps for a fraction of the price. ------------- Axe the Thorax's drone bay.

Hangar 6, fight club station.
You should remember that the only changes MK2 ships on SISI have are pg/cpu and slots, everything else (drone bay, bonuses) are as of MK1 version, im waiting for update for some serious testing... ------------- Axe the Thorax's drone bay.

How about..
5 ions (t1/named) MWD, scram, web T2 RCU, 800mm plate, med rep (t1/named), t2 reactive energized, t2 adaptive nano
~50% resists+, good chunk of armour still, quite decent firepower?
Downgrading an ion to electron would allow you to make all of the blasters t2, or other equipment t2. You get the idea.

Even with the cap booster, it wouldn't work.. you would be out of cap too quickly. One of the main problems with the rax has been over looked, and that was and still is the most cap intensive cruiser.
Before the small guns/1600mm plate revolution people did indeed fit medium guns to their rax.. but, they well died pretty quickly due to the lack of cap.. the dual mwd rax and small guns was a lot of fun.. but was impractical .. "wooosh i move fast... can't hit anything.. but woosh." So for the majority the rax was the best mining cruiser in the game.. as with a little bit of squeezing, you could fit 5 whole miner 2's.. and so the rax became the ninja miner of choice.
For a long while people would ask for a rax set up.. and the responce of "Fit miner 2's" was the reply.. and this was when you could carry 10 heavy drones.. then came the plate revolution. And the rax started to get some major use..
The idea at first, seemed like a joke, until Nafri mentioned how the plate rax was then more and more people started to be turned around to the idea.. the Duramaller was also seen as a great choice.. and after it came to light, that duramaller .. could eat a rax for lunch it started to see more popularity for a short while, before becoming one of the best mission running ships in the game (pre lvl 4 missions.. when people used to lose battleships to the lvl 3 mordu's headhunters mission.)
Now back to the present day, and the changes.. the rax, with its changes.. will be a pityful sight.. its never going to be the cheap deimos people think, its never going to be the mini-meg people hope. The changes are too little.. plus for all that, it still has the lowest amount of slots of any of the tier 3 cruisers.
And lets not forget.. Before the changes Maller > Thorax.. After the changes Maller > Thorax while the maller is tanking several battleships.

Do you keep MWD'ing after reaching target? o.O Coz at decent skill level i think you can keep those reps going long by using charges...
