A few days ago Sinister Corp was blockading some gate or other in the Syndicate region. I warped in and Shollos targeted me and attacked but I managed to warp away before he completely destroyed my ship.
After doing the info thing and reading these boards, I realize he is a big time pirate but how does he keep the high sec status? He pods people all the time but has a very high sec status. Is there not a hit to your Sec Status when you attack and pod someone in 0.0 space? I thought there was always a sec status hit but there were no police/Concord to interfere.
Thanks for any info.

A long time ago you could get a very high security status by killing NPC pirates. So they started off really high, so they can pod alot of people. This pirate may also just have started, and only pirate in pirate space (0.0) where the hit you get is lower.
And security status is just a shady thing..
This is not a hijack

Nope, no sec hits in 0.0 space. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Its only a crime if you get caught no witnesses...no crime

If this world was supposed to be friendly CCP wouldnt have wasted time paying the devs to code so many weapons |

Edited by: Ryoko on 30/07/2003 03:07:33 This is another major issue CCP has not addressed yet. In some 0.0 space you take absolutely no sec hits. In some 0.0 space you take huge sec hits. It seems that sovereign or non-sovereign 0.0 space usually determines this, however I have taken huge hits in 0.0 non-sovereign space..so something is definitely wrong. I have been involved in all situations previously mentioned more than once I assure you. The systems do not change in how they react to hostilities, but in order to avoid sec hits you need to know which ones hit and which ones don't. When I contacted EVE about this, their well informed.<snicker> GMs told me that we take sec hits everywhere in space, not just empire space. I told them that they were incredibly mistaken and explained why. You can imagine the responses. ;)
Ryoko, sec status currently 4.8...now I couldn't possibly be a pirate could I???

In my humble opinion, ANY podding ANYWHERE should be accompanied by a severe security hit, unless the podee is a wanted criminal. The devs themselves (before release, I remember reading) that as there is a RP element, it would/should be considered murder and podding would be uncommon. Makes absolutely NO sense for a positive sec. status player to waltz into a 0.0 sec. system and then pod people for fun, the return with no security penalties.
It is still a murderous act, in character, no matter where. NOTE: Dogfights/exchange of fire should carry no hits in 0.0 space, as it is just as likely in defence.. but podding is something different.

Edited by: oiusodoff on 30/07/2003 14:35:31 Yesterday I was hunting NPC pirates in 0.0 space. While engaged in furious combat I was attacked by a PC cruiser. After a few well-aimed shots the infidel fled with his tail between his legs. For this 'incident' I took a sec hit for defending myself... Go figure.
