BULLSH*T
CCP used camera shake, motion blur, and numerous other effects whose names I can't quite place at the moment.
CCP: You've got to stop lying to people about the game experience, especially to people who are potential customers. I don't mean to sound ungrateful because that new trailer was a treat to watch, and the music was amazing, but the first few words at the beginning were an all out lie and you KNOW it.
What are new players going to think when they realise "hey, this isn't nearly as exciting as it looked in the video"? Also, many of the shots in the trailer were clearly filmed in some sort of observer/flyby mode not accessable to players, how does that class as being captured from "actual gameplay"?
Really this angers me. There could at least have been a disclaimer somewhere saying that some of the scenes were slightly enhanced using special effects and camera angles not normally available in game. But there was nothing, not even a mention.
I want to know what this is all about and what others think about it. I'm possibly going a bit over the top here but it's not the first time I've noticed it in CCP's trailers. I could understand if it was perhaps a translation problem and what they meant was that none of the scenes had been enhanced in terms of the graphical quality, but that to me seems rather far fetched and it's the only alternative that I can think of. Other than that the only conclusion I can come to is that CCP were just lying and hoping that nobody would notice.

No lies there.
All SCENES were captured from ingame.
Meaning, that everything there, was captured from in game, and is not CGI. The camera shaking is in game, on close zoom in on ships when a missile impact occurs, the camera shakes like you saw.
Motion blur was added by the look of it, but all the scenes were captured in game... so in effect, you've just made a completely pointless post.

I kinnda agree, however I think the scenes in the end really distinguishes 'fiction from fact' (if you can call it that) pretty fairly...

Eerh, all those scenes were actually captured while running the normal game client.
That's what they said, and did.
Sure they have been edited, but the quality is quite representative of the quality that is possible via nromal gameplay.
It's quite normal to describe edited scenes that are edited versions of captured gameplay clips as "captured during gameplay", because they were.
Hence, they arent lying.

Yes, all of the scenes used in the video were direct from the game.
Several special effects were added in post-production, but most were quite subtle (such as the super closeup of the armageddon & heat shimmer passing through the beams) and did not detract from the visual appeal of the game itself.

Uh, no. Dude. Read my above post.
This means no EVE videos are actual gameplay, because most have various post production filters on them.
In fact, NO VIDEO IS ACTUAL GAMEPLAY! They've all been... ENCODED... into a video! That changes what it looks like!!!!! -- Proud member of the [23].

Your sarcasm is misplaced. Special effects CHANGE THE WAY IT LOOKS. That's the whole point of special effects.
But what is the freaking point of changing the way it looks when you're trying to demonstrate what it's actually like?
And why say that it's ACTUAL gameplay when there clearly aren't all these fancy motion blurs and camera shakes in the game? It makes no sense to me.

So like, where do they say it is actual gameplay ?
they said it's been captured during actual gameplay, which is true.

Edited by: Derron Bel on 18/09/2005 14:31:55 Come on. Anyone with two neurons to rub together can tell where the film is edited.
It doesn't say "Actual gameplay footage".

The camera shakes is in the game.. so that leave you moaning about the motion blur on the ships.. which falls back to the point brought up by Dark Shikari no vids are actual game play.
I guess, you needed to find something to moan about, and picked on the trailer..
