I'm just wondering if they ever explained why they're getting rid of split weapon systems on ships. I know it didn't work on most ships, but TBH most of the ships it didn't work on also had other problems plaguing them, or were outclassed due to the now-obsoleted tier system. So does anyone know? If so, can you provide a link, or a point in the right direction?
Just to clarify, I'm aware that split weapons do have some issues due to the fact that weapon mods only apply to half of them, but FWIW I think most of the reason that split weapons fail is because they take up 2 bonuses. Just once I'd like to see a split weapon ship where the weapon damage bonuses doesn't use up BOTH of the ship's bonuses.

In the thread about Minmatar Battleship Tiericide, Rise mentions under the Typhoon comment that all T1 ships got their split weapon systems removed under the tiericide initiative.

Split weapons add a significant amount of additional skill training to be effective with a ship as compared to single weapon systems - and T1s are supposed to be cheap and effective at low skill, which kind of nixes split weapon systems as a setup there.
I think they'll be seen a lot more on Navy and T2 ships, though. |

Split weapons are terrible. Good ships are focused ships that do a particular task well, and split weapons mean you can't do either weapon system well. |

exactly and in the case of that one minmatar battleship hopefully it will finally see more use , it was a shame that the ship was underused
