Can someone explain to me how the damage from Deep Core Mining of Mercoxit works?

The mercoxit is a special roid. I love the green cloud.
With Deep Core miner I your laser only reaches 5km. Over time mining you roid produces clouds of hazard dust. This dust will damage anything. Cargo cans, Hauler,, Rats, and even your ship. Well you can get better consintration of cloud dust when you train deep core miner skill. Soo it get smaller as you skill.
I dont know the damage causse I use Modulated Deep Core miner II which are 10km range and you will always be well away from any cloud. -------------------------- Does it matter why, its when is more crucial!

hmm.. what i was really wanting to know does it work like damage from combat or does it bypass shields and go straight to the Armor/Hull of your ship?

It works the same as any other damamge in Eve; shields, then armour, then structure. I'm not sure what damage type is deals out though...

Which asteriod types CAN be deep core mined? Does it work on all of them or only a few of them?

indeed good calculators, but as a side note, don't password protect worksheets with perfectly common knowledge functions, that wastes precious minutes having macros delete the passwords

Mercoxit is the only ore that can be deep core mined. I'd like to see this expanded to where it allows you to mine out the core of an roid (instantly popping it), and give you one unit of a "core" ore, such as "Veldspar Core", have it be a largish m3 size compared to normal ore, which when refined yields a larger amount of the usualy mins form that roid type with less time spent mining and less hauling needed.
Perhaps this is a goood idea for that ore compression miners have been asking for for ages?
Second, the deep core mining skill does not reduce the size of the taxic cloud, it reduces the chance the cloud will form on a given cycle. As your skill goes higher, the cloud appears less and less often.

I'm not sure, but I believe the Modulated Deep Core Miner II will mine any 'roid (except ice), you just have to have the crystal for it. I'm training up my industrial alt to fly a Domi to give it a whirl on Crokite.
Here's the Description of that laser...
Quote: The modulated deep core miner is a technological marvel that combines the capacities of the commonly used Miner II with that of the deep core mining laser. Using a modular mining crystal system it can be altered on the fly for maximum efficiency in the job at hand.
It¦s important to remember however that without the proper crystals this unit is really only marginaly useful for mining mercoxit and highly inefficient for most anything else.

Modulated DCM II can use mining crystals, like Modulated Strips and thus can mine ANY ore with higher amount

so training up that specific skill is useful if u intend to deep core mine
On another front t2 mining crystals are slowly falling in price as more suppliers come online
more 1-2 run BPCs, agent drops and perhaps a few additional BPOs could be useful

Edited by: Mina Chaos on 20/09/2005 14:35:17 Damage is about 150 pnts/min. To a Domini it is not a much of problem, but other ships and especially cans it is a problem.
