Hi guys, I saw a lot of people in fits for missile based ships using more than one target painter in medium slots.I even saw one navy scorpion using three. So i'm thiking using 2 when i 'll get my navy scorpion .Will they be better than one? |

The cycle time is stupidly long. Means you kill something and have to wait for a week to paint the next target. The skill should lower cap and cycle time. Thus people fit several to get more targets covered. |

Yes.
I started with 3 TPs on my SNI but have since dropped to 2. There's a skill for TPs you can train, Frequency Modulation I think it is (could be wrong), that increases the effect of TPs so that helps enormously. Just make sure you stagger the activation, that way at least one TP is lighting up the target at all times.
The SNI is a great Lvl 4 mission ship and perfect for 2 TPs. Great training if you have any desire to progress towards a Golem in the future. Plus +ša change, plus c'est la m+Žme chose |

Don't forget rigors are better than TPs in most cases for mission boats, but once you've stuck 3 rigors on there and you have free midslots then go for a TP too.
and John, I think the skill is called Signature Focusing, I could be wrong too though. |

Nah you're right, Signature Focusing increases painter strength. Frequency Modulation is still worth training though, as it increases painter falloff, giving it (along with the optimal increase from Long Distance Jamming) an optimal of 45 km and a falloff of 90 km, meaning a 50% painter hit chance at 135 km, and an ~84% hit chance at 90 km. |

Agreed, but as you say the best position is to have both. I have 2 Rigors and a Flare on my SNI. So the Rigors reduce the explosion size, the flare makes the explosion faster and the TPs make the target 'bigger'. It all helps to increase applied DPS.

Thanks for the clarification; I posted from work and was trying to remember.

Yeah I ran with similar setup when I used a Navy Raven, I sold mine and bought a Machariel and never looked back but with TE nerf and that massive Cruise damage buff it may be worth considering revisiting the Navy Raven. |

Stacking penalty mod for Nth module or rig = 0.5 ^ [ ((N-1) / 2.22292081)^2 ] 1 : 1.0000000000 2 : 0.8691199806 3 : 0.5705831430 4 : 0.2829551534 5 : 0.1059926494 note: modules with highest bonuses are calculated first.
So the second one only has 87% effect and the third 57% |

cruise buff is making that option look a bit better imo. One of machs nice features was the nice range extension it got. Shield mach not exactly TC fit friendly.
TBH if I could be bothered to find the time to pull the test data files floating about a cruise golem in theory may not sound as bad as it used to for this. And with the TP bonus while not webbed bonused haha I got you vindi frigate blap abiltiy...cruise may not even be a waste to shoot if needing to kill a say scram rat faster.
And for OP with 2 (or more) tp you will have to work out a cycle sequence for them. From prior runnings in torp golem I found it best to stagger them. Like launch the second Tp say halfway in 1's cycle. While a pita it avoids wasting 2 tp's on a target soon to die. Target pop while the second tp is still cycling at least you have the first tp to paint the next target.. |
