The *new* aware CCP is going to be tiptoeing around players feelings as much as possible. That means they're going to introduce the Tornado as a ship anyone can fly no limitations beyond Minmatar BS, Minmatar BS/X Faction BS, or T2 Minmatar BS skills.
The only problem is that they might introduce it as something overpowered. In fact I'm worried more about it being OP than unavailable. |

I wish they would make old ships not be garbage and then give more new ships ... they can be genericly good. Dea god I just want more new models and looks and stuff <3

I agree. There are some ships that simply look too awful. I have tried to fly Caldari ships before, but ALL cruisers are butt ugly... and those poor new players to the game, that get introduced to the Bantam at the get go...
Nothing wrong with swapping out a ship here and there with some better designs. Redesigning some more ships (the new Maller looks great) would be nice too.

though I'm not as pessimistic as the above posters who are already whining about what stats it will have, and if CCP will mess it up, shouldn't a ship with a name like "Tornado" at least look a little..."vortexy"?
personally I'd rather have custom paint jobs available for ships first.... like Tiger Stripe, or Digital camo, or Chrome, or hell bright yellow for all I care. with your corp/alliance emblems on them.. or just fix hybrids >.>

Its NOT a battleship, they scaled it back to a Teir 3 battlecruiser. BUT, it fits battleship guns. The draw back is, less tank. |

A little sad it's not a battleship, but I see their point in a crowded field of battleship hulls and providing wider availability.
But the capability to fit battleship guns on a battlecruiser is quite interesting. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has toyed with the idea of rigging a small ship with really big guns. Now here's something built for the task. Should be pretty awesome, can't wait to see the stats. |

So, just to play the numbers for a moment.
The biggest drain from a large turret is powergrid. So a ship bonus is likely: 90% reduction in Large Projectile Turret module Powergrid usage. So following the Cyc to Cane progression, could expect a powergrid of somewhere around 1490. That would allow you to mount 8 800mm repeaters, with some skills, but not much else. Toss on a 10% Rate of Fire bonus, because Larges are slow as hell.
I would bet on an even slot layout, 8H/4M/4L, 8 turret/4 missile, to allow for armor or shield but not be greater than the other BC's at either. Adds to the glass cannon concept. Armor guys can aim for webbing and speed, shield guys can aim for tracking and damage. Might even bump the speed to 175 from the 165 standard, since the dev blog mentioned speed and distance tanking. A 4500 point even split on shield and armor would allow the pilot to go either way, but the 4 slots keeps it from out-tanking the Cyc or Cane.
Crunch all that out and it'd make one hell of a paper sniper. Thoughts? |

Well "sniper", what is sniper in your definition in the current game?
If they're intended to shoot "from" 70/80km warp to point, re do same stuff until no red on gridd I gess the good welp arty cane fleet will rip them with no fear, since their sign radius will be smaller but same/better tank=easier to rep.
Alpha strikes? -maybe but the counters will found quickly and without numbers all I can think about this ship is that he will quicly become hangar queen or for other purpose than gank in high sec.
I can hardly imagine goons changing their 1400 arty maels or welp canes for those, since they're intended to have less tank than those mentioned before, a single commando of 10 bombers would face **** them and smack them in local, but wait and see.
I'm really curious about those but not in hope I'll find them so "yeah this stuff rocks in tha house" like when I've docked my last Brutix for my first Cane |

The important things: Large Projectile Turret CPU Need bonus Large Projectile Turret Power Need Bonus 8/5/4, 8 turrets/0 missiles -> I was pretty close with 8/4/4. No missiles though, which is fine.
No drones 535 m3 cargo bay -> bigger than the other two 6 Targets, 60K range 170m sig radius -> Much smaller than either of the others, which is good
225 m/s -> Much faster than I thought they'd give it.
Armor: 2272 Shield: 2165 -> Much lower HP than I guessed, and sort of nonsensical having 5 mids but lower shields. But the difference isn't huge.
Overall, pretty badass.
