the clumping is annoying, but the most irritating thing about drones is the new "Return to Drone Bay" command that has so far proven worthless. Megathron with 8 heavies to which 1/8 or 2/8 return the first time I give the order. Only after the drones return to an idle state will they return on the second issuance of the "Return to Drone Bay" command.

Errrr, my drones are still busy making love to each other instead of going to attack or return to drone bay

i got a lot of problems with light drones, they are %% slow, last day on 8 droen only 3 was following a little pesky frig with mwd. The 5 other was roaming around at 10m/s.
When you ask them to come to drone bay more than half of them don't fricking move.
I got less bug with med drone, and for hvys i didn't tested yet.

I have to issue the return to dronebay command twice as well, mind you better than before and for a domi pilot it's annoying.

sometimes it works on the first try with light/medium drones, but I've never had it work with more than 1 or 2 heavy drones. and my drones still get stuck on each other all the time.

They use attack speed sometimes, sometimes they don't. Sometimes half of them go fast toward a target, sometimes half don't. Sometime half decide they want to attack something else (if its at long range).
Still lots of sticking problems. I fly an Ishtar with 15 heavies. There are always, ALWAYS, 2 ogres that are sticking in exactly the same way in transit.

yesterday corpmate and I both at the same time had our drones go 'on strike' at the same time as the rats respawned him in a domi, me in a celestis while mining in a 0.2 system |

1. The "Return to Drone Bay" command doesn't completely work, as others have stated. I sometimes have to send out the command more than one time, but two or three times seems to get them all back. So although it doesn't work 100% correctly, it's a move in the right direction. :-)
2. Drones don't seem to stick as badly as before, but there are still times when I see it happen. When it does, the two drones that are stuck together always take a long time to return to the ship, because they are moving at very slow speed.
3. Drones do seem to attack targets better, and hit more often. I've seen a marked increase in their effectiveness against targets. So it looks like there was an improvement in this area as well. __________

Mine stick together all the time still (v3582).
Very annoying since they slow down so much they take 5 minutes to travel 20km. And if there is nothing around to target so you can set 1 of the stuck drones to "attack", then blah...got to go chase them down.
Is this still one of the bugs that [supposedly] can't be replicated by knowledgable people?
The Return to Drone Bay sort of works: - if stopped, ~80% return to bay around 80% of the time - if moving slowly (<50% drone speed), ~50% return to bay around 80% of the time - if moving quickly (right around drone speed), ~25% return to bay around 80% of the time - in the other 20% of the time, only around 10% return to bay
But I'm so used to repeating drone commands over and over to get rational and *instructed* behavior (i.e. attack what I say, not what you want :) that this is not really a problem. Unlike drone mating-on-the-fly issue.

After the last fix I only have one problem with drones - they still attack non targeted objects - typically structures - even when you have targeted ships.

Mine stick together constantly, and the "return to drnoe bay feature" does not work whatsoever.

Yep have to issue the Return to Drone Bay twice or more.
Have noticed that NPC's tend to switch to drones when changing targets, even after they are all targetting me, the dmg does seem better.

Just to say that my drones still mate, normally only ever 2 at any given time (not sure if its the same 2 each time, but i think i'm going to send one of them off to the vets to get 'sorted out')....
And I also agree that the return to drone bay was a nice idea, its a shame thats all it is though... an idea... how hard can it be to fix it anyway...

Edited by: Drommy on 20/09/2005 11:53:18 yep took 5 return and scoop commands to get 8 beserkers into my thorax. 3 came in at proper drone speed and scooped immedietly. another 3 arrived at a slower speed (not clumped, maybe they where just tired from all the humping earlier who knows why they didnt wanna come back at full speed)and i had to issue the return and scoop command again to get them to scoop. 2 got stuck together and i had to go and collect them. and didnt scoop soon as i was in range, had to hit the return and scoop a few more times. far from fixed, but a step in the right direction. oh well doubt it ill have as many clumping problems when i can only fit 4 heavies in my rax with only 5 high slots grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr whine _______________________________________________
