Ok seriously wtf.
So they aren't dropping as loot. People are demanding 200K per drone, what do they cost in terms of minerals to manufacture?
I guess if you have a stockpile, you are now rich or richer depending on your financial situation.

There are no blueprints for them in game yet as far as I know. They have always been drop only, but now they arent dropping since the last patch. Not only that, but since the last patch NPC pirates tend to target drones at the outset of any engagement, so harvesters are going *poof* in large quantities. High demand + low supply = skyrocketing prices. This is the reverse of the same rule that bottomed out cruiser prices. All you people that rejoiced and sang the praises of the free market when the bottom fell out of cruisers, well heres the pendulum swinging the other way for a change.

Grave anyone mining in lower than .9 system normaly has protection from pirates. If they are mining solo then they should park their ship 4km or closer to the roid so they can scoop them to drone bay as soon as pirates spawn.
On another note, Harvester drones hit 200k on trade channel today more or less. It looks like they will go up in price before they fall.

Let's not forget though that a drone needs to be within 1500m in order to receive commands to return to bay. While 5k or under you can use them on the intended target, you still need to command them and sometimes you don't get them in fast enough.
I don't blame the npc pirates for going after the drones. Everyone has been mining their ores within their territories and are getting ****ed off seeing mines stripped of all ore. If you were in their shoes, you would probably shoot the offending harvester too, then go after the player to keep them from stealing, and keep the player from coming back. :-)

There is no blueprint so far in the game and they are only convoy loot before the patch. The patch has stopped the glitches that made harvesters so cheap. Lets look at a Standard Mining drone. 15 ore / 60 (half as good) selling at NPC price at 100,000. And your complaining about 200,000? You wait til they rise to 400-500k each which they should of been as that is what they are really worth. It was only those glitches in the game that made convoys drop 1000+ harvesters at a time that made the supply infinate. Now, theres a finite supply and the demand will only go up with NPC pirates killing more and more harvesters. CU Vapors before the pirate loot patch went for 400k. They have now reached 3 million. Once items go rare and theres no blueprints and theres a finite supply the prices will sky rocket. Simple market stuff. Better grab a bunch now before later unless you are banking on CCP to make harvesters drop like they used to again.

Edited by: Koda on 30/07/2003 20:01:06 This thing hit me bad over the weekend. CEO was away on trip - no access to drone hangar. In desperation, I buy 4 standard miners for 75k each and watch in horror as they got poofed by npc's.
I will definitely be pulling them in when rats spawn. Pirate targeting drones/nerfing drops is good for the market, but not for the miner.
Also, it seems that drone repair is now bugged.

I just picked up 50 harvesters last night for 15k each...
Hmmm, I guess I will sit on them till price is nice and fat, if that is the rumor is true about the loot spawn on harvesters... =p

Edited by: Bashar on 30/07/2003 21:20:23 Dynamite, I think the thing thats got people upset is that the price is jumping so much more than is really warranted by the supply and demand.
If cu vapors started dropping fomr convoys in batches of 800 and 1200 and continued to do so for the next 3 months, at which time the drop rate was fixed or stopped (there is debate as to which is the case with the harvesters) would you then expect the price to return to 2 mill each overnight? Even though there are still players with litteraly thousands in stock, and even though just one day prior the prices were in some cases UNDER 25k each? Most people would say no, and realize that its just people jacking the price up becase they think harvesters are actually rare now..which again...they would be....if there weren't already thousands up on thousands already in the game...guess how many standard drones are currently in the game? I don't know either but you can bet its not remotely close to the amount of harvs.
I personally find and sell standards for 40k and improved for 100k And if you give any frigate user the option between 3x 200k harvesters and 6x 100k improved mining drones, most of them will pick the improved drones. Can you guess why?
