Hi all
I'm a member of a fairly newbie corp and we want to get into trading... We have been scouting about looking for trade routes, but as the universe is so big it seems like it will take forever to find any worthwhile trading opportunities....
Is there a good process for setting up trade runs? Or does anyone know of any good buy low/sell high routes that they are prepared to share?
Any help much appreciated...

Kind of hard to make any big money trading in this game unless you are ready to be online 30 seconds after downtime is over (bout 4am my time) to start trading. Thats when the "power traders" get on and dry up most of the good routes demand.

Trading is about to go into the history books like low security mining..
You use to be able to double your money easy with trading by buying low and selling high the same item between two different systems. A trade run would be good for about 10 to 15 trips at a profit of 10% to 20%.
If you're lucky you can even find trade runs where one station is selling and another station in the SAME system is buying. I made 20 million isk in less than 30 minutes in a zero jump trade route once. The most I've ever made has been 45 million in a single day. I use to average 10 million a day.
Trading is crowded now.
To keep new traders away, mega traders who had hundreds of millions of isk began buying up all available supplies with orders placed before server downtime.
Now you got a bunch of mega traders / mega corps placing region wide buy orders for half a billion isk worth of stuff each day. This essentially clears out all available trade goods as soon as the server comes up.
I still trade, but I'm lucky now if I can make a million a day if my random order gets filled and I got cargo to trade with.

Speak with a character called Dog Child. He was advertising trade route info for sale on the Trade channel last night.
You will need to check his prices and stuff first though

Edited by: Dog Child on 30/07/2003 12:01:23 Thanks Mr Bridger.. How is the trading going? Still happy with the trade info I sold you a while back. Hope you are doing OK out of it.
Iroxxx is spot on but if you know how to get the best out of trading 2-3M per day is not unreasonable provided you have a decent cargo capacity, some good routes, patience and at least 20M in capital to fill your hold. I am able to make those profits and I dont log on until 4+ hours after DownTime. You just need to know how to trade, but it is always more profitable if you can get online right after DT.
Happy to arrange some kind of deal for any newbie corps wanting to get into this lucrative area. |

Dog: it's not going to be lucrative if you keep doing this. it's just going to introduce more whiners who don't think they get their fair share and pretty soon, you know what's going to happen. NERF.
you make a quick isk now, in the long run just shooting yourself in the foot. (a hemm, bp copies, cough, cough) ______________________________________________ Hellmar > sorry for the attitude, playing a n00b character through the current state just left me a bit bitter dev chat: Mar 18, 2004

Lucas your view is entirely a valid one and I agree with your view on the drop in value of Blue Prints. However I dont expect to get that many sales as the price for the information is set high enough to ensure only those who are trully business orientated will want the information and make good and profitable use of it.
The game dynamics are such that who know what the Eve economy will be like in months to come, so if I can make additional ISK now selling information at the expense of future (non-guarenteed) revenues then now is a better solution I believe as overall the net income should be higher. So it may seem as though selling this information is counter-productive (which happend with the Blueprint copies) but I dont believe it will be quite like that. After all it is a free market economy. |
