Sorry but we DID NOT knowingly use any exploit last night. We were as confused about only seeing a few ships as the Fountain peeps were, but it seems we responded better to the situation as it presented itself. It seems that the Polaris people in Evolution didn't like the fact that they failed to kill a single m0o/sin ship and just cried "Grid exploit!", its sad really. Sure we may podkill and steal but we only ever do this within normal game parameters.

Yeah... all that grid stuff was my fault anyway. I'm also to blame for all the people complaining about the apparent abuse of an exploit. Sorry bout that one, I'll try harder to not do it next time. --------------- I used to be in the FA. I like cookies. Eve Radio is teh pwn. |

I for one never actually thought you did. The grid system is very badly implemented and is probably going to get a few innocent people banned. Although given that the GM's claim there are no "accessible" logs it's hard to see how this could be proven.
Of course now that everyone knows about it then I am damn sure that some people are going to exploit it for gate "camping" (and no I'm not referring to m0o here).
Another wonderful game "feature" eh? Being shot at by invisible ships

It's going to prolly come down to what happened in AO: A Range nerf.
They had the same problem in the beginning. People's range extended beyond the grid of the immediate area. So they nerfed range with a hard cap
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann

Bah, the ships aren't invisible. They have to target you before they move out of sight, or else both sides are blind so there is no problem. The only thing I wonder though is why the problems only really started happening yesterday and how I can further point the blame my way. I mean, I wasn't even on in that disastrous Fountain battle yesterday but I'm still at fault so I guess I can take the blame for this somehow as well... --------------- I used to be in the FA. Theres no need to place the blame on anyone. Fact is the whole fight took place at a gate which seemed really bugged, so poor coding is to blame rather than anyone present.

as far as i understand it ,coming out of warp at 3km/s thanx to a bug that allows a gang member to bump into the back of you ,im beeing targeted and fired on by invisble ships ,5 seconds later i enter the grid m0o and sinister were in they pop up as threats and suddenly apear on my screen ,the rest of the FA fleet apart from a very small number of ships disapear i assume they got knocked coming out of warp aswell. i last for a short period of time as Stavros ,Shollos ,Lord Zap ,Strom and Katchin are tearing me to peices... maybe they didnt target me until i ended up in the same grid as them. my ship was still lost to an exploit/bug if i wouldnt have been knocked when coming out of warp i wouldnt have ended up in another grid and i wouldnt have been killed , i was unlucky enough to fall in the grid 20km/s away from the m0o and sinister guys while still travelling towards them at 1km/s.
i doubt they would have been so keen to sit and wipe my ship out if the grid's didnt exist and the full force that outnumbred them atleast 3-1 landed where i did..

Edited by: Lord Zap on 30/07/2003 01:57:43 Well it was a bug not an exploit. Its only an exploit if we knowingly used it to gain an advantage, how the hell could we have known you would be bumped out of warp and come steaming towards us? No, you did not lose your ship to an exploit you lost it to a bug.

Come on now, Zap, that really was unnecessary. I understand it's my fault and everything but still, you have to be held partly responsible for your own actions around here. Ok guy who lost the apoc, the grid bug maybe, but the fact you got bumped is down to amateur warp organisation and not a bug. 200 ships trying to warp to the same spot = SOMEONE is gonna get bumped it stands to reason.
You have no grounds to complain about the loss of your ship. --

stavr0s the fact is ,if the grid bug didnt exist you would not have stayed long enough to kill my ship knowing you would stand no chance at all when your massively outnumbred that would be as suicidle as me warping and trying to take on you all on my own ,which is basically what ended up happening thanx to a BUG.

Stavr0s just told me he used the scanner to target invisible ships.
That is in essence, exploiting a bug.

Huh, 'm0o' involved in more exploits. Amazing.
If that news bit is actually true about bannings maybe the game will be free of a few of your types soon.
And Arathmon should find a new hobby.

Edited by: Johnson McCrae on 30/07/2003 05:04:28 Edited by: Johnson McCrae on 30/07/2003 05:03:58 Its official. CCP has labled this an exploit.
Oh, and Molly, yes, they dont want you to use mid slot items in warp. Chaos now shuts them down when you enter warp, and you can't turn them on till your released.
No more high speed ab or mwd runs to blockaded gates.
Also, they seem to think that starting a fight at a gate/station, then jumping/docking when your about to have your a** handed to you is an exploit as well.
PS: Does that mean m0o and other gate campers have something else to worry about? I don't know abou...<smacked with nerfbat>!

"PS: Does that mean m0o and other gate campers have something else to worry about?"
Not really, from descriptions how the routine works (returning fire doesn't lock the gate) it actually might make the camping even easier -- as long as they don't fire first, they can respond to attacks all they want, and when they decide it's time to bail out they can do just that.. unlike their opponents who are left with the locked gate.
Same goes for the station redocking 'tactics'...

Having read another thread in a similar vein to this one, which was locked by Polaris: "You can and will be banned for using this exploite..
Because of forum rule #11 I have to lock this down.
Sorry boys.. *click*"
Seems to me that banning people for accidentally straying off into another `grid`, while in combat is incredibly unfair -if people are banned for `using` this, i hope it`s not done indiscriminately-. Personally i prefer to keep combat long range, which means keeping well ahead/above/below etc. so hitting an adjacent grid happens in a relatively short period of time, this applies to many others in the game i`d imagine. Using orbit at distance would go some way to getting around this, except that it doesn`t work correctly with moving targets
While it`s true anyone could potentially use this as an exploit, in a lot of cases it`s not intentional and mostly just an irritating problem, that i really hope can be fixed by ccp. At the very least you should be able to have the damage/target box back when you eventually find your way back to the original grid you started in, without having to warp away, and then warp straight back in. |
