could someone breakdown which shields do what exactly? i'm trying to get my moa setup for npc fighting and pvping.
what shield protects my ship from hybrid weapons, missiles etc...
anyone have a loadout suggestion for me?

It's not the weapon, it's the damage type of the ammo in the weapon.
If you look at ammo, you'll see what types of damage they do.
The trick is know what type of ammo your opponent is using/

use shield Hardeners. what ^^^he means is you get 4 types of damage in weapon modifiers.
Thermal
Kinetic
EM
Explosive
Shield Hardeners protect from these 4 damage types. such as:
Photon Scattering Field(70% res against EM)
Ballistic Reflection Firled(70% res against Kinetic)
Explosion dampening field(70% res against explosive)
Heat Dissipation Field(70% res against Thermal)
Their are other types of shield hardneres some are weaker some can be used for armour. some you can get a Invulnerability field I which increases your ships shield resistance against all 4 damage types by 40%.
Then you get Shield boosters which when you shield has taken damage these shield boosters when activated repair your shield significantly things like Civilian shield booster, small shield booster, medium shield booster and large shield booster. BUT be careful when using these boosters. they drain your capacitor like theirs no tomorrow. so make sure their on manual only and not autorepeat so you can control it better.

all hybrid ammo does thermal and projectile
all laser crystals do emp and thermal
projectile is the only one that matters what ammo they're using, and projectile weapons are pretty weak in comparison to hybrids and lasers, so people rarely use them.
