Hi folks, I'm trying to use a bit of proxy avoidance to get round some firewall issues - but if I change the port on the eve client I get the following message:
"Unable to get serverstatus on other port then 26000"
Does this mean CPP have hardcoded the port as 26000 - or that my avoidance is just not working? I know this sort of stuff USED to work - but does it still work in light of recent pathces etc?

It works, it just wont tell you the current user number.
Here's a simple way to sort such problems.
1) Create access to your internet IP and PC on port (say) 21 or some port that you are confortable connecting to from your work lan.
2) Install AUTAPF from networkactiv.com and set it up to forward incoming traffic on that port to your PC, out to the eve server on port 26000
3) Telnet to the port you chose at your IP Address from your work (firewalled) PC. Obviously, it must be a port which is allowed by your firewall rules so if you have access to FTP or SSL to any host, use those ports...
If its working you should see

4) Add the line "networkAdvanced=1" to prefs.ini in Eve/cache
5) Fire up the client and give it the IP and port of your PC which is running AUTAPF and just hit connect.

Hey!
couple of questions..
How do you do step 1? and what is telnet?
Sorry, i am a bit of a newb as far as networking goes, but i would be proxying to my comp at my parent's house, (im at a University with tons of firewalls) and i would really love to be able to play, thanks!

and since it generates a new IP address everytime it connects. This will help me in my quest to frustrate my

To make it clear for non-network peeps...
The principle is to have 2 computers connected to internet.
One is your home (for instance) and the second one is work or school.
What you are doing is basically saying your work computer to send all data coming from a specific port to another one that you can use from work (say 26000 to 80, 21 or 443).
At home, you'll receive therefore data from 80/21 or 443, that the application will the route back to the original 26000 port.
Little scheme to figure it out :
Work -----------------------------------> home
26000 sent to 443-----------------------> 443 sent to 26000
And when data comes from 26000 at home :
Home -----------------------------------> Work
26000 sent to 443-----------------------> 443 sent to 26000
I'm testing this application (as the one I got from a friend already works, but is less user-friendly as homemade :p)
I hope this one support proxy authentification...
I'll check if it works now I've configured home computer...
