Sorry if I'm repeating this question I have used search but have not found an answer to my question. Obviously you can play eve from a usb flash drive, if I copy and paste the install folder is a 8 GB drive enough space? Also I've been having problems with my laptop and had to do a complete factory restore but after I did this computer is running slow. Before I could play just fine but now it lags a lot especially when I fight rats it has even froze on me once. So would playing on the flash drive improve my playing experience? I have already changed settings to optimize performance with same results. |

8g will probably not be enough space. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

So in using the 16 GB flash drive would I see an improvement in performance over my slow laptop? |

http://www.eveonline.com/faq/client-system-requirements/ The client folder itself takes up ~16GB, plus all the cache files etc. You used to be able to use the /LUA:OFF switch in the shortcut path to force it to keep the cache in the client folder, but I'm not sure that still works. |

Only if the issue with your laptop is either drive speed (unlikely) or a lack of drive space for use as virtual memory. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.

I would probably use a 32 Gig allowing room for future expansion.
Your performance will actually probably decrease. USB 2.0 read/write speeds are way below the transfer rates of your internal hard drive. Expect longer load times and more lag then your getting now. The advantage of running of USB is easy migration to other PCs, you don't have to reinstall the client.
I would check and see if there are video driver updates available for your PC. If you did a factory restore you more then likely downgraded the version of the ones you were using before you did the restore..

As stated, if drive speed is the problem yes. But I suspect the issue is CPU or GPU or memory. |

Sometimes the client freezes for half a second, which is my fault, because the HDD goes to sleep.
That's the only "issue" worth mentioning.
Please note, that's the HDD with my last working windows installation, as i have switched from HDD to SDD in my notebook.
It works. No problems. All good. |

I ran EVE from an external firewire drive for a while. No increase or noticeable decrease in performance. This is EVE - Everybody Versus Everybody.
