Hello all,
I am a solo miner that just likes to simply mine. One thing I miss though, is simple chat while I mine. It makes mining go by faster if you have people to talk to. I made a channel for players like me named:
miner
Join the miner channel if you solo mine or just want to chat about mining or to pass the time while mining.
Hope to see you miners in there soon!

A lot of orethieves are amused by smack at them when they do it, hell its part of the fun for em. So yeah let them know where they can idle and occasionally wind you up with the odd carefully worded statement like. "All your ore belong to us" etc etc let the flames roll in. Nevermind the fact that they may overhear locations of impromptu mining operations.
Jeez its like 2+2=3 with you.

OMG, it would be like that bit in Nightmare on Elm St where Freddy's tongue comes through the phone
Also, I wonder if the groups of characters who mine lots with numbers at the end of their names (you know the ones) will join the channel and not say anything? |

Umm, thanks for the replies everyone.
Not exactly what I was aiming for. I just would like some conversation about the mining aspects of EVE. I do not understand why some of you think this is a way to grief or steal from other players.
To answer your question about getting into a Gang and mine, I play at odd times from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Finding a gang will take time away from mining.
Please join the channel if you wish to just chill while you mine.

People grief and steal from other players if they can. You don't have tounderstand it to be cautious.....

Whatever, my point is that once you have someone in your gang they can kill you and not take a sec hit or intervention by Concord. This is my understanding unless it has changed in a recent patch which I do not believe is the case. Therefore I forsee you annoucing your location and a request to gang so mining is more fun for you. A pirate with a sense of humour who has read this thread will be idling in your channel. He will ask for invite then fly to where you and your gang are and gank the crap outta you.
Again lets not get into why, I am not here to explain the immorality of some players...Are you aware that there are quite a few players who declare themselves members of the Save the Roids movement? They wouldn't hesitate to gank you in empire and laugh at you.

Fixed.
Stealing isn't neccessarily griefing. They could (and most likely are) doing it for the ISK. Griefing is setting out with the sole intention of hurting someone, stealing is making ISK. ___________ Nero Scuro's alt, until thursday Saturday when I can pay my damn credit card bill. (I hate Natwest) |

The amount of misinformation in Eve is amazing.
For the love of all things decent, DO NOT fire on someone in your gang that is not also in your corporation; it WILL go badly for you if you do.

Solo mining is horribly inefficient. Why not get a partner?
Sure, you have to split the ore 50/50, but since you *at least* double your yield and reduce your exposure to theft, it balances out. Plus, you might make a friend.

The only reason I cn think of atm is that he could gang warp you to a hostile POS? Not likely to happen in High Sec.

Thank you for your opinion. However, this is not about being efficient or not when mining is concerned.
This is about people, like myself, who solo mine to have a place where we can go and have people to talk to. Pretty simple concept. Mining>channel>talk.
This can also be a place where corps can find miners more easily for recruitment. A place where your mining questions will not get lost in the sea of other, non-related new player questions. A place where barges, osperys, mining crystals can be traded, made or sold. A place where people can meet up, make friends and just chill.
Anyone have anymore questions on why I want this channel?

why in the hell are you people blabbering on about gangs, when the thread is about joining a channel to chat in? I read through them all and was like.. huh?
I might pop in there savvon, i do a bit of solo mining myself, course, i wont tell you where im mining, cause theres a chance i'll end up with ore thieves.. and i wont form a gang with you, whether than would entitle me to attack you or not.. see? there.. problem solved

In low security space, it's simply because a pirate can warp straight to you as a gang member. And since he has little concern for the security hit, he'll engage anyway. But he will take the security hit, gang member or not.

One, hyphenated word: eve-radio. That's the channel to be in when solo mining. Hell, go the whole hog and listen to the stream at the same time. It's better than sex*
Disclaimer: Other Eve related radio stations may exist, indeed other non-Eve related radio stations may exist.

another good point for not joining a gang if solo mining, gang members can look at the map and find where you are, come along and steal your ore just for the fun factor.
or even just amble up and pop your cans.
just remember, there is an option on the map to 'show my gang members in space'
Quoted From MouseOnMars Especially the Machariel, which can cast level 1 sh*t your pants upon appearing on the battlefield |

Me too. I've got a little 13" cable ready tv right next to my monitor. It stays on Sci-Fi. I found that I had to lean forward in my chair to change channels, so I hooked it up with a universal remote.
Actually, I'll come clean. I watch tv during combat too. I can't even count the number of ships I've lost cause something cool was happening on SG-1. Go Fred! |

Which word is spelled wrong? Before you join the spelling police you should make sure that you're aware of regional variations in spelling.

i occasionally do solo mining....just because sometimes I don't have hours to spend on eve, and team mining always takes more time, and then the greed factor takes over, and you spend much much more time trying to waste the whole belt...
if you run out in a retriever for awhile, at least you have something to show for it.
