IGÇÖm a bit surprised I couldnGÇÖt find a thank you thread for Burn Jita 2.
I really had fun this weekend.
When Burn Jita was announced I didnGÇÖt know what to expect. I read some posts about last yearGÇÖs Burn Jita event but wasnGÇÖt there to experience it myself (I started playing EvE after last yearGÇÖs event).
So in preparation I decided to make my last hauler trip to Jita at least 2 days before the announced starting date (they said Burn Jita would start on Friday, but considering what I learned from playing EvE I fully expected to see the first hauler kills happen on Thursday ). Then I bought a cheap t1 frigate (Executioner), put some cheap mods on it (guns, dual sensor booster and some other stuff GÇô total price was below 1M ISK including rigs) and undocked to find some trouble.
And I learned a LOT.
For example that I need to prepare new PvP overview settings for large fights to make it easier to target a specific ship type. Or how fast some people lock on GÇô with my setup my signature resolution was at 2.6k and it helped, but some people beat me with ease, it seemed. Or why it is a good idea to keep some range (at least 6km) to those smartbombing BS GÇô one of them almost got me GǪ put me into structure before I made my getaway. Or how long it takes for Concord to show up (5-6 sec in 1.0, correct?); and much else.
And on top of it I had the opportunity to get on some killmails courtesy of Goons and friends (tbh only one of the kills was an GÇ£honestGÇ¥ 2 on 1, most of the others involved Concord or a larger number of other players GÇô but it looks good on first glance, doesnGÇÖt it? ).
So, thank you very much for Burn Jita 2
TL;DR: I had a blast, thanks.

Disapointed, so far.
My empty frieghter almost go scanned once. And I saw a buncha reds get detonated when they warped right smack into the middle of a monster concetration of Concord - It was like flashbulbs popping.
Oh, and someone tried to lock up my Vigil at one point - after I was already 50km from them and moving away fast.
Not terribly impressed. Moer action, pls! Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

You are absolutely right -
Been playing a great game for 10 years. Empires were growing, things were interesting. You actually had to think. It was a place I could find an intelligent base of people to play with
Now we have things like Burn Jita.
Some people think its fun - but then again, it does not take much to excite kids these days. Personally, I think it is lame as all fu@k.
Kind of like working for a great company that set high entry standards, and then realize they have been hiring people with no experience or education for the past year.
It just make it hard to believe the BS they put out about how amazing and dynamic EVE is. |

Well, my training wasn't very combat oriented so far ... I can fly a freighter but still can't fly a stealth bomber (but that will change in a few weeks ). Recently I learned to pilot my first t2 (a frigate) but I can not "fly" it (properly) yet. But once I feel comfortable with what I can fly (and for PvP that's not necessarily a t2 ship), I fully intend to visit Low/Null to find some people help me improve my PvP skills - willing or not. |

Nearly 3 times as many freighters+JFs were downed alone, with other pickups including a full officer HS mission boat and other bling nonsense. In every measurable way, it was several times "better" than last time.
I guess it wasn't enough to counteract your general lack of observational skills, however.

Till Thursday? Really? That's not good. Extending cool events like these far too long is the best way to kill them, see Hulkageddon. In order to keep them fun and interesting they should maybe be held more often, but never longer than a few days, or they become boring for the ADHD web 2.0 generation.

So, a kill every half hour.
And since the last kill means you have to sit in station for 15 minutes, that leaves 15 minutes to get about 30+ players in new ships, on the field, finding and ganking a new target.

Was 200 last I logged.
But yea, after insta-gibbing on the gate we all have to hustle back to station in our pods, wait out the GCC, re-ship, reform - scan down a target, get the bumpers on it - warp in 150+ Thrashers, hope no-one fires early - take down the target ...

What you know could fit on a post-it note. Trust me, there was plenty of 'tuna' or what ever analogy you want to use. We had guys under -2.5 bouncing celestials just for the chance to drop on the target at the last second.
15 minutes to get back into Jita (most people waited out gcc outside Jita to avoid TiDi dragging it out) through traffic control, get a new ship, dodge wardecs and kill rights to get on a perch, and then find/bump/warp-in and kill the next freighter. |

My observation skills are just fine - I observed myself piloting a frieghter full to the brim with fuel blocks, and no one even looked at me. I observed a fail to even get a lock on my lol-fit frieghter hull when I returned. I'm no uber-pilot, just an average Joe, and I was flying a frieghter with a fit that was mediocre three years ago (can't be bothered to update - no reason, based on my loss-rate). I observed myself flying about in Jita space, and seeing exactly one unusual circumstance - which ended in a swift and uneventful Concordokken. I felt zero fear or excitement.
And yes, once I remembered there was a Burn Jita, I recalled reading about it right here... Posted by Goons - CCP has nothing to do with it, one way or another. But y'all failed to deliver, IMO. Over the course of the weekend, you managed to kill about one hour's worth of frieghter traffic. That's not an 'event.' That's a statistical blip.
You say 'better in every measurable way.' I say bull-hockey. This is insanity. You can't possibly believe what you're typing, or you're too stupid to realise it's nonsense. So three times more freighters go down, which is nothing worth mentioning, but when 1/3 the number die, that's "turning Jita upside down"?
You need to actually sit down and work out what world that makes sense in.
Or.
Or.
I do notice you mention you're a WH dude, and the crowning jewel of illogical decisions was someone flying 20bil of WH loot into Jita.
Sir, I do propose you be mad at your loss. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. It is actually fun for pretty much anyone not flying freighters or stupidly expensive ships. It might even be fun for them if they enjoy the excitement of trying to dodge us.
For every person here who says it was no big deal, there were a hundred people who were chasing us around to kill us when we went criminal, blapping us on undocks using kill rights, scooping up the billions of isk of loot we dropped and the loot in the ships we ganked, etc, etc, etc.
If Burn Jita was a non-event for you, you were doing it wrong. |

Damn I have been missing most of it then, all I have seen is a flagged Thrasher warp to the Jita gate in New Caldari and get insta popped by about 200 Concord and then he warped off in his pod looking kind of sad |

I enjoyed it. My main toon made over a billion Isk. I was able to PLEX my account & have a lot of spare change thanks to Burn Jita 2. The smart bombing battleships didn't disscourage me from looting the field.
Was a busy weekend. Friday I was poor 63mill & now I have a PLEX & 590mill in my mains account lol.
Disclaimer- I am in no way affiliated with the Goons.

Well done to all involved, a great event that switched things up for a few days. The game would be worse off without you guys. Credit to the counter offensive also, Marmite, Whores etc., successful or not, they brought an added dimension to the whole event. A really enjoyable weekend, thank you. |

BEST post ever about Jita Burn II. They locked it so you can't reply.
If the Goon Federation wasn't around I believe EvE would be boring, Thanks to all the collaboration of everyone involved for making JITA an exciting sector this last weekend.

DBRB streamed for about 40 hours over the course of 3 days. That guy is insane. http://themittani.com - Because EvE has needed a proper news site for ages |

I'm not a hotshot pilot by any stretch of the imagination, but I flew in and out like I always do - the solitary attempt to lock my freighter up failed rather convincingly. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Someone was trolling, and badly...
You said "empty". Re-read YOUR post. Now it suddenly wasn't empty?
And assuming you're NOT trolling, maybe your empty non-empty cargo wasn't valuable enough for them to lose the isk on? "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |

More likely he WAS scanned, however if he was leaving the station that means he was still in docking range... making him a fairly unattractive target. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

It's like he has no idea what passive scanners are, or how ganking/freighter mechanics work.

It's like he has no idea what passive scanners are, or how ganking/freighter mechanics work. Not a ganker, so yes, that's probably an accurate summation. My freight skills are just enough to do the tower-fueling work necessary, and nothing beyond that.
Ginger Barbarella; Go back and read the rest. Someone *is* trolling badly, and it isn't me. Left with a full hull, came back empty. Last night, did it again.* I'm given to understand that the 'event' is still on? Yes? So I got away again. Someone tells me I was probably scanned passively - I'm making no bones about my lack of understanding how that works - So I'll presume he was right. Which means that someone probably did know what I was carrying. And I got away anyway.
Ranger1; Unattractive target at undock, but last night's delivery went 22 hops, including through the Jita peripheral systems. Surely someone could've been informed and be waiting me?
*OK, not entirely full the second time - 17K cubes worth of fuel. Just enough to finish topping the tower to the brim. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

So I guess it's just me who is puzzled about that little part where he said that his freighter is "failfit" and he hasn't ever shanged its "fit" because never felt that it was needed?

I took part in the first one and enjoyed but like lots of people in this thread I couldn't be arsed for the second. Has it finally happened? Have the goons become uncool? |

A well played bitter, crying derail. Back to the op.
Myriad Blaze wrote:IGÇÖm a bit surprised I couldnGÇÖt find a thank you thread for Burn Jita 2. And on top of it I had the opportunity to get on some killmails courtesy of Goons and friends (tbh only one of the kills was an GÇ£honestGÇ¥ 2 on 1, most of the others involved Concord or a larger number of other players GÇô but it looks good on first glance, doesnGÇÖt it? ). So, thank you very much for Burn Jita 2 TL;DR: I had a blast, thanks.
Glad you had a good time! Woulda been fun to get in on one of the freighter kills as well, but each person plays the game their way. Now that you have a taste, try some more new things! |

*sigh* There seems to be a misunderstanding. Being ganked in Jita by goons is not having a blast, that is you being blasted and the goons having a blast. You're supposed to avoid it. |
