Edited by: Gullan Coco on 10/08/2003 16:58:56 What do you think about to implement an option to set the modules on/offline in space, by R-click+select the module(same as "info"). It should be a time delay, maybe called "power-up" time for like 30-45 sec and a "power-down" for like 15-30 sec, so it wont be missused in battles, or at least very hard to use in battles. (and yes...I had this in for a cpl of day's ago but forgot to set a "Subject" on it)
best regards

Yes please!
Would be handy for miners who want to take along something to defend themselves if/when a pirate shows up. Shut down the mining kit and start up the combat kit - hopefully before the pirate starts kicking the crap out of you.
Ooh - just had a thought. How about being able to completely power down a ship to hide. Not much use against things with massive sensor arrays, but could be enough to let a ship be missed by smaller vessels.

and it will also be a work-around for the "modules offline after relog"-bug. I'm often far out in no-station areas and usually log there, or have to relog to solve some minor bugs, and it's a pain in the...err...behind if some of your "passive" low slot modules go offline. When the grid-expander goes down some of the weapons and shield-boosters also do, and that can be very lethal.

I have no idea how CCP missed this one. I'm assuming that they didn't and for some reason it's not be instituted in the game yet.
It is rediculous not to be able to power up and down systems. Have they never watched Star Trek? Or Blake's Seven (if you're a Brit).
Point being, spaceship management has always been about power. You should be able to play your ship like a finely tuned instrument. Let's face it, you don't need that survey scanner in a dogfight, and you don't need that weapon while you're mining.
Hell, have delayed activation (or a power up cycle) and that would rock as well, but give me MORE control over my ship.
