It has now been 3 hours and 35 minutes. Why do they say that the server will be down an extra hour if they aren't sure how long it will take??? I for one could have accepted this if they from the start had warned us that there was a chance that it could take 3+ hours. As it is for me atm. I loose more than a whole day of playing due to downtime, and now this. And this isn't the first time it happened. Maybe they should strongly consider changing the downtime once in awhile so it isn't always the same people who are affected by the server downtime.

Agree, they said it'll be down for one hour longer. Now it's almost 4 hours.
Would one of the devs please be so kind and comment the additional 2 hours of downtime (for now 2 hrs).
I can't understand all of this, please explain.

They must be adding those extra hard things that make programmers a bucket of cash. You know things like Placing a Green bar when a friend comes Online.
Actually they can't be doing that cos that would have to be included in a patch. In fact the only reason we actually have a downtime is so that the NPC can filfull there market obligations of buying or placing buy orders on in the market. Most likely this causes a strain on the database, so they just decide to turn the game off for an hour for the customers.
Cheers Klit )

Never the less they should consider changing the downtime once in awhile. It isn't fair, as I really dont think we get any discount for our loss of playtime.

So you want them to credit you 7 cents? That's how much eve costs for 4 hours.

If you have only 4-5 hours after downtime you can play, that's a lot mate.

Well said Daviid
Samuel, it was to clear my point. Why should only people from 1 timezone be affected by downtime. Thats all.

I don't remember what game it was, but until they implemented a daily downtime, they had huge problems. We're talking servers being down or slow for days. So be glad EVE has a downtime
The extended downtimes usually takes longer, and sometimes they just take a while longer than the devs expected..

Downtime? What downtime? I've never experienced downtime.
hehe, I'm glad I'm sleeping while CCP is working. However, you folks over there in Europe get the best deal on trade goods... so I guess it's a trade off.

y0!
I really don't mind the ONE HOUR regular downtime. My problem is the extended downtime. They said 2 hours, i could live with that, but not 4. I can only play from server startup + 4 hrs, so i basicly lost a whole day. That's my only problem :(.

i have to asnwer here
it's a pain, for shure, to sit in front of the "machine", waiting and waiting and waiting but, some "advice"...
- online games tend, to get patched on and on (that is good - btw. ) - often, you are unable to tell the "audience" how much time you need
so, do what "we" do.. - dont believe the (often) optimistic time-table - leave the room and enter the true MMO(R)PG - called real-life

hehe what alot of people dont realize sometimes is that "Servers" cant take up to a hour to "boot-up" Properly and have all their programs (the game itself) up and running with all of the permissions (who's account has what character files attached to it and whatnot)in order. Sometimes they will boot up perfect, sometimes, after maybe replaceing a worn cable, they boot up with errors or that 1 cable you replace has 1 of its pair of lines crossed in the connector. There's a bunch of little things that can make a downtime with a server (or in the case of CCP Servers) longer. Just Bear with them and be glad that the game is constantly being worked on istead of being left at a BETA condition like some other MMO's always seem to be =)
Yes CCP Takes down the Servers evey single night. But how many times have you seen "Zones" Crash in EVE compaired to Everquest? (which is left on till the server simply gives up and dies/crashes =) )

Most people in Europe are at work/school I think when the downtime occurs.
I for one would like to see an alternated downtime because all trade deals are made in that first couple of hours after boot up.
While I appreciate that if you spend 4-5 hours a day on a game like this, having a day taken away from you is frustrating, I'm sure there would be more complaints from those that make their 'Eve livelihood' from trading if the downtime was moved.
Can't have it all ways
I'd rather CCP get it up and running correctly. I've lost count as to how many times the help channel is full of people whinging about crashes leaving their ships in no mans land.
It's just a game...
