Hello Everyone
I am working on an assignment for my Video Game that involves EVE online. I'm already super addicted to the game and I would love to hear about some of your experiences. Please answer any or all of the below questions:
How often do you play EVE? What do you like most about EVE? Why did you originally play? What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.) Have you made any friends through EVE? What activity have you enjoyed most? Are you involved with CSM at all? Have you gone to a fanfest?
Feel free to add anything else because all response is welcome
Thanks |

- How often do you play EVE?
Define "play".
- What do you like most about EVE?
It's glacially slow. This lets a person have an RL without ever feeling compelled to log in or "play" in the traditional terms of most MMO's. If i'm very busy for 2 weeks, i can make a few eve choices that are long term. These choices will let me progress in various ways while not actively investing personal energy at the keyboard for hours during those 2 weeks i'm attending to RL.
- Why did you originally play?
The above. I enjoy RL as much as Eve, in balanced quantities.
- What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.)
Depends on the character in question & my mood / time availability. Some things in eve can be very quick, others require long periods of playtime at the keys, - or none at all beyond a few initial clicks of the mouse.
- Have you made any friends through EVE?
In Eve, yes, all be it restricted to Eve.
- What activity have you enjoyed most?
The non-consensual violencing of boats.
- Are you involved with CSM at all?
No.
- Have you gone to a fanfest?
No as i prefer EVE <--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> RL

1.) Daily (unless I really can't log in due to RL reasons). But don't really "play" daily, a lot of the time it's jsut logging in for a chat. I tend to live on the forums.
2.) The sandbox. You can do what you want...I like my station spin counter.
3.) Saw it on sale on Steam, gave it a try, never left (and never played another game).
4.) Station spinning. Talking to people. Helping newbs.
5.) A bunch, both through the game and the forums.
6.) Helping new players
7.) Weird question to have in this list...and define involved...
6.) No. Already have a hard time to prevent to come across as a normal guy instead of a nerd. FF will ruin that completely. When a WoW player leaves to return to WoW, the avg. IQ of both games rises. Professional Forum Thread locker. |

* How often do you play EVE? Varies greatly. I can go a month where I play 40 hours a week, followed by a month where I play maybe 4 hours a week.
* What do you like most about EVE? Working with other people to achieve common goals. Making sure griefers don't get any kills. Laughing at all their whining on these boards about what needs nerfed, because right now, it is too hard to get lots of easy kills.
* Why did you originally play? Friends played and talked me into trying it out.
* What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.) Hang out with friends, harvest resources, make sure no one gets a kill of any of my toons.
* Have you made any friends through EVE? Not Real World, but many in game.
* What activity have you enjoyed most? Again, goes in spurts. I'll go for awhile trying to kill every space rock in the (high sec systems in the) region, Other times I'll lay back and run some missions. Some times I'll just hang out on team speak and talk to people, not even logging into EVE.
* Are you involved with CSM at all? No. I'm marreid, with kids and grand kids, full time job, etc. I have no time to get involved with CSM.
* Have you gone to a fanfest? No. I live on the other side of the world and am not going to drop a month's income just to go to a fanfest.
* Feel free to add anything else because all response is welcome There are as many play styles as there are players. |

How often do you log into EVE online for whatever purpose. To chat, complete missions, or just goof around etc.
Also how much time do you spend on the forums? |

Yes I have made friends. They have replaced my RL friends and are a heck of a lot cheaper to hang out with. 6.) The elusive 20-30 man wh pvp fights. 7.) I voted and read some stuff but not really. 8.) I wanted to but my wife just got quiet when I asked (which means no). Oh well maybe next year. I never seen these people in my life. 1) Normally im online at least once a day for a few hours, but check my EVE mail every day trough EVE gate, and ofc corp forums.
2) The social aspect of the game. Love being able to interact with people and really getting to know them.
3) Former partner played.
4) Director stuff, recruiting, talking to members, occasional missions if i can find that undock button and im not swamped in convos
5) I have made some good friends, and also met my current partner trough EVE
6) Tough question... Not sure if writing walls of text on forums counts for this? But i think i would say that one of the one i enjoy the most (even if its a love/hate relationship) is recruiting. Provides a challange and can bring quite a few surprises both good and bad.
7) No.
8) Currently sitting in Iceland with my better half to go to our first FF

How often do you play EVE? I play Eve 3 - 4 times a week for between 1 - 4 hours at a time. It varies so much that I can't actually say how long. In time spent on forums or other media about Eve probably 60 hours a week.
What do you like most about EVE? Two things keep me playing. The environment (the harsh open world sandbox), and the stories that players generate in the environment.
Why did you originally play? I was at a friends house and saw it being played, and then he told me all of the stories about the great war. I was hooked, and started playing soon after the downfall of BoB.
What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.) Haul for my corp, mine, build with industry, play the market and act as an AU timezone recruiter. I am always talking to the guys in my corp.
Have you made any friends through EVE? Yes. My old corp mates and I stayed in contact even after I left.
What activity have you enjoyed most? Forum wars... haha. No in all seriousness I love the markets and metagaming involved in it. That's my favorite thing to do by far.
Are you involved with CSM at all? If by involved you mean vote then yes. I tend to keep up with all of the current CSM events and I write about them somewhat on a blog that no one reads.
Have you gone to a fanfest? Unfortunately no. But I would love to should my real life situation change enough that I could. |

* How often do you play EVE? 5 days a week usually. Each session is usually about 4 hours, in weekends it may be longer.
* What do you like most about EVE? The sandbox, and all the different kind of social interactions it brings
* Why did you originally play? Spaceships!
* What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.) I do a lot of talking to others. When i'm not doing that, i'm shooting ppl from my wormhole.
* Have you made any friends through EVE? Yes. 2 of them don't play eve anymore, but we are still in touch.
* What activity have you enjoyed most? Getting ganked when running wormhole cap escalations, and then not loosing a single ship and force them to retreat.
* Are you involved with CSM at all? I try to keep up as much as possible.
* Have you gone to a fanfest? No, but I might go in the future. |

1. How often do you play EVE?
Right now not very often. I'm on a break after a very long active period where I helped rebuild one of Goonswarms squads.
2. What do you like most about EVE?
The intrigue and politics of 0.0.
3. Why did you originally play?
Goon space antics.
4. What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.)
Execute idiots.
5. Have you made any friends through EVE?
Sure.
6. What activity have you enjoyed most?
Bombing an entire fleet off of a grid with a single button push.
7.Are you involved with CSM at all?
I voted, I've talked to a few members.
8. Have you gone to a fanfest?
No. I'm entertained by the idea of going, but I think I would have enjoyed it more when I was in my 20's and a pubcrawl was an exciting prospect rather than a tour of places I've barfed which is how I'd view it now. |

How often do you play EVE?
Every day or every other day.
What do you like most about EVE?
Nonconsensual PVP with real consequences that matter. Can't get it anywhere else.
Why did you originally play?
A friend told me of the wonder.
What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.)
Enforce the Code by killing miners.
Have you made any friends through EVE?
Hmm, made one because of EVE, overheard someone talking about IT alliance and I interjected myself into the conversation, he's since become one of my best friends.
What activity have you enjoyed most?
Killing carebears.
Are you involved with CSM at all?
I voted, designed a campaign e-poster, that's about it. Rather disenfranchised with it since CCP recently completely de-clawed it.
Have you gone to a fanfest?
Fanfest 2012, Rocked it. Iceland is a great country and I will be back, Fanfest or no.

How often do you play EVE? Generally almost every day for at least a few minutes to do skill changes or research jobs.
What do you like most about EVE? The atmosphere, and the gritty unforgiving nature. Plus it is about space, and spaceships which is not all that common.
Why did you originally play? My friend had started playing it and I watched him play for about 2-3 weeks before I got interested enough to start playing myself, that was 5 years ago. The expansion I started on was Trinity.
What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.) Generally I pvp on my main while I do pve on this character and a few others.
Have you made any friends through EVE? Yes I have a good friend that we met through Eve Online, and we have been in the same corp together on my main for over two years now. We have never met in rl, but I hope to change that someday.
What activity have you enjoyed most? Most likely PVP, because I have gotten some of my most satisfying moments in pvp related activities. Got my first supercapital kill in 2011, which was an Avatar class Titan. I also got my first final blow kill in 2008, which was a kitchen sink Vexor . Got my first freighter kill in Burn Jita 2 .
Are you involved with CSM at all? Nope, Only have voted. Don't have the time or finances to deal with that.
Have you gone to a fanfest? Would love to, but just never had the time or the budget to go.
Interesting fact my anniversary of starting to play Eve is February 14th, so I literally am a hopeless nerd lol.
This is the first MMO I have ever played, and I have never stopped Subscribing on my main. My main's account has been continuously active for 5 years, although my main didn't train the entire time as I trained an alt on that account for about 6 months. Nonetheless my main still has over 70 mil sp. I once podded myself by blowing a huge fart. |

How often do you play EVE? - I log in most nights after the day is done. I tend to avoid computers and games like the plague during the day.
What do you like most about EVE? - The dystopian nature of it all... and how few rules governing behavior and preventing atrocities there are. It appeals to the libertarian and despot/"evil overlord" in me while offending both my conservative and liberal tendencies at the same same time (that totally isn't a loaded statement ). I also don't have to grind skills and I can take on people older and supposedly more powerful than myself using tactical awareness and "a plan."
Oh... and I while I like axes and magic... spaceships are where my imagination truly lies.
Why did you originally play? - I was tired of playing Asian MMOs that gouged you for every small thing with micro transactions... World of Warcraft just didn't interest me because it was functionally the same thing (grind, gear, min/max, rinse and repeat)... but I needed another MMO to sink time into at night as I had finished all the other single player games I had. I saw an ad for EVE on a favorite site of mine and decided to do the trial. Never looked back.
What do you usually do while you play? (communicate to other players, attack others, complete quests, explore etc.) - Talk with other people on teamspeak and chat channels... mostly PvP (and PvE when I absolutely must)... sometimes I help newbies that find their way into my crosshairs.
Have you made any friends through EVE? - I met up recently with some people from my alliance. In a strange way, I do consider them friends.
What activity have you enjoyed most? - Crushing my enemies (or poor unfortunates that happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time)... seeing them driven before me... and hearing the lamentations of their women.
Are you involved with CSM at all? - Does giving **** an alliancemate who happens to be a CSM count?
Have you gone to a fanfest? - First time here. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

For years I played on a daily basis, now I'm a :bittervet: and might log in... sometimes... to add skills.
the fact that it's player driven, pvp focussed and a sandbox. Most importantly, failure is allolwed in this game and players are not shielded from it, that means that putting in the effort to NOT fail has meaning and positive consequences. However, this bit of EVE is being eroded over time
I played the beta, looked funky but worked terrible so I quit when they launched. In 2005 I stumpled into it again and went "oh yeah this one, lets see if it's still fail"
I mostly interact with others, either by helping them (I'm in help chat a lot and join corps on an alt to help them out) or by blowing them up or ransoming them. These days I just do forums and uhm.. yeah
tons, thing is that I at times start from scratch, a new character, for no real reason other than being bored. But generally my attitude seeps through the new character and people figure out who I am/was anyway. Apart from that, over the years I've helped many folks start their EVE career in a proper manner, many of them still play and some made it into proper pvp entities. I even tend to talk with my targets/victims, if they're capable of rational thought, and many of them end up in a friendly manner.
