Instead of giving out random gags and short bans why doesn't CCP just use word filtering software... yes i know there are tricks to get round most of them, but at least they would be seen to be trying!
Their policy on it is ridiculous and totally ad hoc, which is crazy!
Do me a favour, click on 'people and places' and search ANY foul word or phrase and see what comes up.
If you cant think of any HERE is a list.

The link does contain foul language and there are 2 disclaimers you have to pass if you wish to view them. |

haha no, but good one.
We aren't children ... now that is another point. This game is apparently aimed at children?? Hence the policy. |

PEGI 12

CCP needs to either introduce some sort of filter and get serious or change the rating of the game. IMO. |

Online interactions are not rated. - No, but the game is.
More like a hard fact. - getting off topic, young teenagers or children, the point stands. |

CCP don't set the age rating of the game, that's done by an independent administrator under the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) content rating system, the independent administrator is the Nederlands Instituut voor de Classificatie van Audiovisuele Media (Netherlands Institute for the Classification of Audiovisual Media). For reference PEGI has 5 ratings, none of which relate to the online content of a game.
- 3: Suitable for ages 3 and older. May contain mild violence in an appropriate context for younger children, but no explicit language is allowed.
- 7: Suitable for ages 7 and older. May contain mild, cartoon violence, sports, or elements that can be frightening to younger children.
- 12: Suitable for ages 12 and older. May contain violence in a fantasy setting, coarse language, mild sexual references or innuendo, or gambling.
- 16: Suitable for ages 16 and older. May contain explicit violence, strong language, sexual references or content, gambling, or drug use (encouragement).
- 18: Suitable for ages 18 and older. May contain graphic violence, including "violence towards defenseless people" and "multiple, motiveless killing", strong language, strong sexual content, gambling, drug use (glamorisation), or discrimination.
based on those standards, EVE seems more to fit with 16 or 18 with the drugs/boosters (Exile, Mindflood, etc.)
CCP are proactive in achieving the PEGI rating they want. They do however seem intent on giving us a 'sandbox' and then punishing us when we don't play the way they want us to.

Get a thicker skin.
And thanks for the linky. Yup, second this suggestion. If the words bother you that much, the awoxer in your corp, his friend the thief who plans to rob your corp blind, and the random gankers will really upset you. I would suggest Wizard 101 instead of eve.
LOL congratulations on completely missing the entire point of the thread.
I am saying that CCP needs to get a thicker skin or a filter.
Personally i'm happy to be called a F***ing C***ing C***, i love tears! |

This made me LOL
Guys please re-read the OP.
I am saying that CCP need to set a filter or HTFU. They should be prepared for a PEGI rating change and not give out bans ad hoc.
Maybe i was too subtle, I enjoy the odd naughty word... i use them to express myself often. So does everyone else... CCP need to RECOGNIZE YO and catch up to the 21st century gaming world! |

Ok, I loved that video.
The point i am failing to make is that CCP have a very strange way to go about warning and banning people who use 'foul language'.
(Forgetting for a moment that their policy also says that ANY infraction you EVER make in the game stacks against you and that there is no statue of limitations on ANYthing you do.)
They basically give us the tools to swear and be vulger, they give us the scenarios and set the scene for us to be mad bro. They have even advertised stealing from people. The only effort they put in is an ad hoc attitude when handing out warnings and short bans. Surely this is phoning it in a bit. What a flimsy policy that it is only enforced when/if someone complains.
Little experiment... click 'people and places' tab, and search ANY vulger or rude word you can think of... ANYTHING and lets see if CCP has done anything about it...
This game is a sandbox. Thus the content is what the players make it. Ergo CCP should either be F***ing hot on it and/or set filters, OR relax their expectations of a PEGI rating and allow it as something their paying player base does.
I am trying to say that CCP have to either GET REAL about the 'foul language' policy OR relax the rules. The current system is unfair to say the least and honestly draconian bordering on redundant!
