This isn't brought on any action of my own, just something I've noticed.
It would appear that the GMs have a general policy against reimbursement of tech 2 ships. While I don't really have any exact proof (where would the fun in that be ), its a common theme in people who I know petitioned their ship losses.
I'm sure you've heard of similar reponses to your own petitions, but a pretty stand-out example in my own experience is from about a month ago when the servers were having a lot of lag issues. One of my corpmates lost an Apocalypse when he lagged out while fighting NPCs, petitioned the loss and got his ship replaced in 12 hours. The very next day, another one of my corpmates lost his HAC for the exact same reason (and the server was even more unstable that day), yet the GMs told him there was nothing wrong with the server.
Seems a bit fishy to me, but maybe I'm missing something. In my experince, I've only ever had one T2 ship replaced in the year and 9 months I've played.
What do you guys think?

I had a Deimos replaced for not watching what was going on and being concorded...so no..I just think the reembursement criteria are rather odd.

The reason for my non-reimbursement was stated as "server problems", so they couldnt verify my loss at the moment. I didn't want to annoy the support too much, cuz it was just an enyo, but im quite sure this doesn't support your point. ---------------

What most players cite as server lag is their own lag a lot of the time. We know this, the GMs know this. Since player lag can be caused purposefully through obscure but simple methods, and since any logging of it is completely unreliable, the GMs cannot reimburse for player side lag. The GMs have access to server logs detailing when the servers lag, and can thus tell whether a loss was honestly due to server lag or not.

the sad part is that u cant get ur ship reimbursed unless it fall under the "4 reimburse rules"even if there was something wrong with the situation that u lost ur ship. its sad that u have to try and lie about lag to even have the slightest possibility to get ur ship replaced. if u tell the truth and try and explain what happened/is wrong it wont help u get ur ship back.

Its come to my attention that GM's use a magic 8 ball to make reimbursement decisions.
A corpmate got an inty reimbursed the other day so your theory is wrong.

I have gotten a theory on this actually.
Only the Senior GMs can reimburse ships. All the other GMs are just there to gently tell us that were lying, theyre sorry, and we can go fckoff.

You cant completely write off the petitions. I think the biggest points to follow:
* Be polite and honest * Grab some screenies upon death * Load up fraps and try to capture certain problems * Explain the issue in complete detail.
While I have only petitioned for reimbursement about 4 times, I have gotten 3 of those claims back. The biggest was about 2 months ago. A raven worth close to 1 billion isk. It had nothing to do with lag, I warped into deadspace location and ended up inside some sort of structure.
I took screens real quick, and of course I died due to not being able to warp out. I took about 5 screenies, for all different views of my situation. This was reimbursed within a few days.
Second time was lag, modules and warp not activating, or taking a good 10 seconds to activate. This was shown to CCP by a low qual fraps movie. I am not sure if CCP actually downloads these as evidence, but I guess just having them there, would show that you are going to a lot of effort to have the problem rectified.
Just dont write the guys off yet, be polite and show as much evidence as possible.

Not to kiss any rear, but....
I have always been polite, succint, and deeply explanitive in all of my petitions, and made sure to never waste a GM's time on anything trivial.
Doing so, I've never had a petition/reimbursement refused.
Of course, this won't work for everyone, but it helps.

Edited by: Ab Initio on 26/09/2005 07:53:05 Currently trying to get reimbursed for an Enyo I lost.. Undocking lag (node side) because an enemy fleet had shown up nearby, meant that when I undocked I saw nothing but a black screen.. Relogged, and I was at a cloning station..
Multiple other ships lost by other people at the exact same time, to the same issue.
Im poor, and a T2 fitted Enyo with protos is worth putting up a fight for :P Ive been told no by the first GM, and asked for it to be escalated.

My theory is they dont reimburse at all if they can help it.
I now have got to the stage what is the point in petitions now as you get a standard answer from gm`s and when your not happy and ask for an escalation you get threats from ccp of having your account flagged so what is the point.

Just after Exodus came out I lost a megathron. No big deal, it just died real quick. So I pettitioned wanting to know what was in that complex, for I lost my Flyingdutchman and did not want to run into that again.
Well Flyingdutchman along with a few thousand other ships got returned to us players.
I ran short of ISK and was in a Amarr mood flying an apoc, so I sold Flyingdutchman just before christmas. It came back
So I sat there looking at this ghost ship...got concerned and wrote a pettition.
Next day there were two Flyingductman's in my hanger
I finally got hold of a GM and was told: "Cant see anything saying you should not have those ships...so...MERRY CHRISTMAS!"
So I think if you lose a ship during a time when they know somthing is going wrong. You will get a new ship...
During day to day lag...no
