I can't really claim to be a New Citizen anymore (though I'm still a child in contrast to the bitter vets), but I am having a bit of a problem. See, I recently got into a Proteus, and I love the ship to death. Thanks to some lucky exploration finds I was able to pay for it, and I've been hooked on exploration ever since.
The only problem is that a combination of expensive tastes, low sec, and solo play tends to end in tragedy, as it has for me several times. I've made enough isk to afford three or four well fit T3s now, but the losses of those T3s have left me a paranoid wreck unwilling to enter lowsec without a sacrifical lam- er, partner. So, is there a community of players who enjoys exploration that would be willing to give me a hand? I'm looking for something like Bomber's Bar, but for the explorer.
And not just wormholes, but low sec, and null sec too. I love the thrill of burning through sites and making big expensive finds in hostile territory, and I'm sure there must be others who have found this PvE/PvP mix of boom and bust equally exciting.

Be more careful. Check the map stats for recent kills. Use a scout. Use your dscan. Be more careful. Use a cheaper ship. Use a covert ops fit. Be more careful. |

Sir Livingston is somewhat e-famous for his exploration videos and maybe you could ask in "his" Club Deadspace channel if anybody would be willing to team up with you. But considering that this is Eve we are talking about everybody will suspect TARP :) You can hang out in that channel anyway for info or just chat with other exploration enthusiasts. I and my friends would be happy to escort your Proteus into lowsec. Join the Revolutionary Front and liberate New Eden from it's stuff.

Won't make accusations, he does run an awesome blog... But OP, I'd be wary of offers like this |

Why not offer payments to have (temporary) access to local intelligence channels? Most lowsec corps I interact with have a baseline intel channel regarding the systems they deem as 'home' and to report potential gank- or war targets. If would not find it entirely inconceivable to give a person outside of my alliance access to it for a while, maybe in exchange for currency or another service. On a corporate level you could look into a standings agreement with the more agressive locals of a given constellation or key system.
You being in a proteus presents a problem though. The sites you find in the space our intel mentions don't need a proteus, you can do those things in far cheaper ships. While corps can have a nice arrangement, CEOs can't speak for the corps an Alliance has blue'd up and the chance to gank that bling may just be to much to warrant your safety anyway. But what you can have is a 'good day' when you find a fat Radar in a space camped by blues. |

Some interesting, and not altogether unexpected, responses here.
Radars are nice, but what're really exciting are the DED complexes, and those require a well fit T3 to reliably solo.
The intel channels are an interesting idea, and while I'm not exchanging isk for a potentially dubious service, offering to exchange service for service could be worthwhile.
I've heard of Sir Livingston, watched a lot of his videos, but I was under the impression he was mostly a Faction Warfare guy at the moment, and I wasn't sure if there was really much of a community built up there. Still, I'll check out the channels.
Spoiler Alert:
If I agree to be 'escorted into lowsec' it'll be in a juicy buffered ship with some buddies sitting in the next system.
Did I mention I'm paranoid? |

regarding DED sites: i have no first hand experience but i have heard several people say that all hisec sites can be reliably soloed in an ishkur.

Actually I have done lowsec and null sec DED sites in drakes and caracals, only 9/10 and10/10 have I ever needed a bs or t3. Also DED sites in low are highly contested and protected/camped by the residents in the area. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. |

I do all highsec Serpentis DEDs excl the 4/10 in an Enyo. Can do the 4/10 too, but way too slow killing the overseer. Probably skills-related. |

If exploring Lowsec/Nullsec, Use the D-Scan to see if there are probes nearby or ships that are a threat. That way you can anticipate an attack on yourself and get out quickly |
