Leaning towards PS3 myself. Have a PSP which they will be compatiable with the PS3, PS has better games. Although I did get ****ed when my PS2 broke, hell everything I had sony has broken, but with the PS2 I think its a minor issue so I will have take it apart and check it out

I think i'll deffinatly pick up a 360 in December, as the ps3 still seems so far off. However no way will I be able to resist the next playstation. I'm a silent hill junkie.

360 mate,
Beyond the fact it's out a full 4 months atleast, before the ps3. It also has a way better game's line up than the PS3.
GTA will be on the 360, halo 3, gears of war, Quake, 4 project gotham racing 3 and soo on.
This and the fact the 360 can link up with you XP using PC for some funky features.
The ONLY title's worth getting a PS3 for will be Metal gear solid 4 and final fantasy 13 (note FF12 is on PS2).
beyond that the PS3 only look's better than the Xbox 3xox and thats all a matter of taste.

I've already pre-ordered my Xbox360 so I'm with that. I was kind of disappointed with PS3 when they showed the Killzone 3 trailer and said it was gameplay, although it wasn't.
I havn't really seen any screens of any PS3 games so I can't really comment on how good the graphics actually are. But the Xbox360 graphics look amazing.
On the topic of Final Fantasy, FFXI is coming out on Xbox360 so I'm guessing they may bring out the others on Xbox360 afterwards, depending on the sales of course.

Look at it this way, was the PS2 or Xbox better?
Most people say PS2 even the one's who play more xbox.
Yet the PS2 was no where near the xbox on Graphic's.
The gap this time look's even smaller but this time the Xbox has the better game's line up.
Best thing to do is watch the preview vids and make your mind up.
it's worth noting there's very little ingame stuff from the PS3. Most is CGI outtakes, where as the xbox game trailers have some ingame uberness.

I played both PS2 and Xbox alot a year or two ago. And the graphical difference was minimal. Infact with games like Silent Hill 3 the PS2 often outperformed it. The Xbox seemed to only have advantage of better graphics with bigger areas.
I'd be surprised if the graphical difference between these two will be noticable.
As for Nintendo, I can't even look at them anymore. A pathetic company that has long since lost the plot.

Im not being funny here but you cant judge the games on the launch title releases. Remember when ps2 came out? In Europe we had..Timesplitters and SSX i THINK were the only titles worth playing (FIFA 4tl). Now ive got Pro Evo 3 sitting in it atm with the box next to Burnout, MGS, GT and GTA.
The fact of the matter is the full potential of the hardware will not even be close to being realised one year after release. This time round sony seem to have got their act together properly with the dev kits and documentation. Look at whats new and innovative in development atm. Perfect Dark on 360 looks better every time i see it but the title that has the potential to be huge is Heavenly Sword from Ninja Theory - PS3. Oh my days it looks sumptious. Im optomistic Nintendo will do well but after seeing that controller i dont think im ever going to want to play on it.
Dont forget Shadow of the Colossus on PS2 either, followup to ICO. I'll probably end up with a PS3 though :)

I was leaning toward the PS3, but a few things happened:
- Game like Armored Core and Final Fantasy both on Xbox360 and PS3, w00t!
- Graphics difference appearing to be a lot less than Sony claimed it to be
- Xbox360 in europe end 2005 while the PS3 will apparently be released on europe end 2006 or early 2007.
All things considered, I thing I'll go for the Xbox.

Nintendo is the only company from the holy trinity (sony,

I agree completley. Nothing has beaten the Resi remakes. But, my problem with nintendo is, the good games that are released on their systems are fantastic, but no way is there enough of them. We get the same old nintendo franchises like Zelda and Mario. They also seem to be obsessed with gimmicks (touch screen, double screen, weird controllers etc).

The best side by side review of the two systems, is found over at IGN.com. Its so far the best Vs review i've seen.
For all the shouting sony have been doing, it looks like the PS3 won't even come close to the over all gaming power of the two consoles..
But, i wouldn't write nintendo out just yet.. their new system could blow both the 360 and ps3 out of the water.

Well, i wouldn't trust sony too much.. being as the supposed real time game footage from killzone, was in fact CG .. the same for MSG4 which is basically an advert for the cell chip, which may be good but isnt up to scratch.. The original plan was for 8 cores running in unison.. but, the only way to get it to work is to have 1 main core, powering the 7 other cores (SPE's) .. the other thing is that so far many of the promises by sony are starting to fall short in a big way.
In many aspects its the whole PS2 chant again, of how the ps2 was going to have graphics that could rival the toy story films as the industry standard for all their games, how it was going to have its own built in HD and so on.. but when the ps2 final came out, it fell short of many of the promises.
The other main thing is a lot of japanese gaming houses are taking a major interest in the 360 and shunning the PS3. i.e Tomonobu Itagaki (from team ninja.) was quoted in saying they wouldn't be programming for the PS3 because "A machine that doesn't run according to its promised CPU frequency is out of the question."
But, until all 3 systems are out.. the race is still level pegging between Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

TBH i think the differences this time round will be negligible and it will boil down to the fan base, but i think microsoft will pull away this time thanks to an awesome line up with games, a reasonable starting price, earlier release date, and a bigger online base.
Tho factors will prevail as the hardware is so similar, both the CPU and graphics processor are custom made for each machine so they cant be compared (because theres no effective way of benchmarking them untill they are released) but the memory of the xbox is what i noticed, its double that of the ps3 on all fronts, L2 is double, embedded video memory is 10x (as ps3 arent using it) system and physical video memory is double.
Biggest difference really is the graphics core clock speed, ps3 runs at 550MHz, xbox 500MHz, i kid you not, they are that close. The processors both run at 3.2GHz, they both have removable hard-drives (ps3 undisclosed as of yet) xbox's is 20GB.
Ps3 will support 7 controllers, xbox 4, ps3 will run a blu-ray BD-ROM, xbox will sport dual-layer DVD-ROM, xbox will support many more digital media formats, but the ps3 carries many more I/O connectors.
When it boils down to it, there really isnt much to compare this time, like i say, it will boil down to preference, personally imma go with X BOX, as i feel microsoft are offering the better product, plus i cant wait to be able to hook my box to my pc and transfer all my music across (media centre extender) and of course, x-box live will always own in the on-line console war, sony must be kicking themselves for not releasing it with the PS2 (like they could have done)

I my self will get both, like with the current systems (man the gamecube sucks). I like my PS2 alot more then my xbox. But the xbox has some of my fav games... marrowind (it is for PC also, but i had it for my Xbox 1st). Since the PS2 has got my fav types of games, i might like the PS3 alot more. PS3 mmmm i really want. Too bad i can't buy the 360 when it comes out, or for the 1st few months... need to get back to the states 1st :P

u say it like he did something bad? He just pulled of a genius move that is, probably, what made xbox as good as it was..without halo i think xbox would have just dropped of the map.

Total PS3 power: 2 GFlops
Total Xbox 360 power: 1 GFlops
There are a few links to those stats, can't be bothered to look em up atm. Gamespot and Gamespy should offer some insight.....
The NVidia RSX that the PS3 uses is essentially a SLI 7800 GT in terms of power. The Cell architecture makes a lot beter use of this than the x86 architecture of an xbox makes use of its ATI gpu (afaik based on the x850?).
the PS3 is hands down the most powerful of the 3. What that means for the games is a completely different issue.
Vision Gran Turismo and Tekken 6 are good reasons to buy a PS3 though.
Also, pretty much a;; games launched on the xbox (360) are released for pc too, if a little later. I'd rather play shooters on my pc aswell, thx.....
The revolution will have to take the leap of faith with that controller. However, it would be awesome if you could swordfight using that.... I haven't seen any game yet for the Revolution, so that'll have to wait.
