I think the business model has merit. It may be an issue of marketing, charge logistics and becoming a recognized source of reliable supply. This is very much akin to the challenge most early internet content providers had. i.e. how to recognize profit when the customer base thought the service should be free.
One probably has to establish the value of the service, then develop an actionable recovery/charging/billing mechanism. I believe this is the key issue. Why is there value in a courier service? I can train and buy my own freighter, why would I pay someone else. Because there is an oppotunity cost associated with that training, and it does not matter if that cost is recoverable in a variety of fashions. The fact that there exists a mechanism for the billing/charging/recovery make it vaible market niche. The fact that there is no game mechanic that supports the exchange of services will make charging for boosting services more difficult.
I'd personally be willing to pay for boosting services. I just have not seen anyone offering those services. I'd be leery of employing those services as I'd think it was an attempt to rip me off....
