I was wondering when this person would notice I was making a habit of going to his jetisson container. I'd been liberally taking ore out of it for a little over a day. Today he finally noticed and here's the resulting conversation:
Simon Monkoto > Hello bronzehot > why? Simon Monkoto > why what? bronzehot > take me ore Simon Monkoto > Because it's faster than mining it myself Simon Monkoto > :) bronzehot > plear dont be that bronzehot > please Simon Monkoto > Kind of hard since I am an ore thief Simon Monkoto > Btw I must thank you for your generosity. So far I have made about 6 million ISK off your ore mining bronzehot > 555 bronzehot > pay me Simon Monkoto > Pay you? I don't think you understand the concept of theft bronzehot > please dont be that ,ok? Simon Monkoto > Sorry, too profitable a profession to give up Simon Monkoto > Although I tell you what, I'll make a deal with you Simon Monkoto > It's one heck of a bargain Simon Monkoto > You pay me 2 million ISK for a one day mining pass Simon Monkoto > And you can mine to your heart's content without me stealing your ore bronzehot > sory, bye Simon Monkoto > Bye

Various varieties of scordite and veldspar. So nothing too terribly impressive there; heck I could have easily made more than I did since I was waiting a while sometimes in between visits to his can and he had multiple miners working it. That and I really hadn't been doing it for over a day in terms of actual play time. Actual play time was closer to about 10 hours.

ore theifing is fun, esp when you out haul there indy, and then they have friends come out in kessy's who think that suicide kessys in empire still work.
btw has anyone heard of a corp called canida x, there seems to be a bunch of x memebers in the kador region that take up all the belts in mining barges and mine away. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ore thieves are lazy players who cant be bothered to play the game as it diserves to be played....Cant wait for the next patch heard they are making ore theft a flaggable offence, if u steal u decerve to be punished. Theft is theft.

I run complexes, I do trading, I learn PvP and I do some ratting. Once in awhile, I steal ore. Because mining is boring. How does the game deserve to be played? Englighten me please.

I think the point is that the thief wont know if THIS lone barge has a gank BS and tackler cloaked nearby, or is that in the next field. Will add some flavour. Also will weed out those who want to just grief and not playthe game. Listening to most of the 12 year old mentality in this forum, id say that will be quite alot.

afaik the mammoth has 5 mids... you could fit 5 multispecs and jam the crap out of whatever comes and then float merrily off. Or better yet lock them pre-emptively dont take stuff from their can and get them concoorden!

You know that when you uncloak it takes like 30 seconds to be able to start locking someone, and cloaking devices make you take atleast twice as long to lock something, right?

Dont really matter how long it will take to lock them. Where are the thief taking the ore, Go to the stations and dock while flagged?
ore thief flagged = No more ore thiefs. Its a sad day when its no longer allowed for a thief to steal in plain sight of the owner anymore. For them that is, the miners i bet just say its about time.

You know, every time that I read some miner's comments either in the forums or in-game about this criminal flagging thing I always get a chuckle. They seem to believe that ore thieves will be zipping around in unmodded, unarmed indies just getting their butts shot off like ducks in a shooting gallery. Heaven forbid they should equip a few warp stabs and shield boosters
"disruptor and drones FTW" indeed. Have you ever tried to lock onto a ship in your mining barge? Because I have had confrontations in my Badger versus Covetors with swarms of combat drones, let me explain how it actually plays out:
I warp in, steal his ore, and warp out before he can get a lock.
Different guy, same scenario. I had to make a long run up so he did get a lock. I just waited until he had to sicc his drones on NPC rats. Then I stole his ore and warped out.
Which is not to say that ore theft will even be committed in indies anymore. I don't know exactly how this criminal flag will be implemented, but I doubt that it will be set up so that the thief cannot shoot back. So why not steal ore in gangs of battle ships?
Frankly I think it is just going to bring low sec style piracy operations into high sec. Guess we'll see though.

Edited by: MaddTaff on 29/09/2005 07:45:44 We tend to have 50 50in drones so thief comes in hopefully we can get a lock my barge locks faster than my BS :) 20 or more drones blast the thief. thiefs not robbing in a hauler not going to take as much and wont be able to dock or leave system, we just swap ships and try to hunt him down atleast it gives us a chance to seek retribution, instead of just hurling abuse in local and giving the thief a laugh since we cant do anything to him, makes it abit more interesting and breaks the tedium of mining to make ships to sell to the PVPers who kill each other by the hundreds aday making us rich............THANKS

Just purely for translation purposes, 555 is the chinese equivalent of a frustrated sigh.
Anyway, ore thieves, pirates, whatever. Love you guys and hate you at the same time. Can you imagine how boring this game would be if everyone behaved themselves? ----------------- "It's funny the way most people love death. Once you're dead you're made for life.
