The topic pretty much says it all. Here are the facts about the 'new' Apoc. Can this ship be fit for PvE at all? Or is it just an overgrown Oracle now? (I'd like to think it's not quite that bad, since it still has a drone bay).
If you were going to fit it for PvE, what would that fit look like? Is it a tac-only boat that attempts to stay at range and kite? Are there any fits that could possibly use scorch? With the Armageddon essentially obliterated for laser players, I am looking for alternatives, and I'd really prefer those alternatives not involve the Abaddon. |

While 353 million isn't that pricey, I prefer low-cost BSes. Plus, the new Apoc model is modestly attractive. It has nothing on the Geddon, but it's not bad. |

It looks fine to me, though you might have trouble with a MWD fit. Edit: I just noticed it's getting a CPU upgrade so it should be fine with a MWD too. Oh god. |

This will be able to fit after the patch, thanks to the CPU and grid buff, it's not winning any awards for mission completion time, but it has a solid tank, excellent projection and even after the cap nerf, strong cap (+12.3Gj/s with cap booster and repper off with current cap stats which is just slightly off stable with cap nerf accounted for) and for a cheap price of 250 mil fully fitted and rigged. However as always with Amarr boats you need good skills, in this regard I'm definitely agreeing that the cap nerf made it less new-player friendly, as they are not able to capitalize on the tracking buff.

wScorch 584 dps @ 70.9+13 (80.4+16.4 scripted) wIN Multi 733 dps @ 23.6+13 (26.8+16.4 scripted) 158 drone dps, 891 max dps, excellent tracking, 428 Sanshas tank and 380 Angels tank at worst (with 4 hardeners) though you should mainly be fighting Sansha with an Amarr boat. It is stable with everything blazing and because Amarr only needs little space for ammo you can fit a sizeable cap booster hold (20 + 5 if I remember correctly) On some missions that you'll need an AB/MWD you'll have to tweak the fit abit because it's tight on CPU, however a simple 3% CPU implant will make life alot easier (you can drop the faction hardener too)
I have an Apocalypse in Amarr space I occasionally dust off when I'm in highsec, I have a full +5 laser and gunnery implant set, a relic from when I used to use a Nightmare for L4s but sold it when I moved out of highsec and with all that it's actually quite an efficient boat for its cost, never let me down (though I don't take it into hardcore Angels missions)
TL:DR The tracking bonus will actually make it a better overall mission boat, however it also makes it less new-player friendly which is kinda sad cause the Apoc was always the go to newbie Amarr L4 boat of choice. |

Here's what I've flown for a while on an alt (Energy Management 3, Energy Systems Operation 4, Controlled Bursts 3, so fairly mediocre skills) :
High: 8x Mega Pulse
Mid: 100mn AB Tracking Computer (script as needed) 2x Cap Recharger
Low: 3x Heat Sink Large Repairer 3x Hardener
Rigs: 3x CCC
Drones: 5x Hobbo 5x Hammer
With this fit, I have 24 sec less cap than on live (about 13%) and a tiny bit less tank, but considerably higher speed and slightly smaller sig. The result is that I can speedtank a portion of the incoming damage, allowing me to run less rep - in the end, overall cap stability is pretty much the same, but the boat feels less bricky and more kitey. I might go for Memory Cells in the end, because it feels that burst cap would be more handy than a little extra cap regen over time. Blaster-like tracking shows, though - with Pulses it melts just about anything except very close frigates.
Overall, I really like the boat, even if it's not the traditional Amarr brick with laz0rs. It feels more like a beefed up Tempest than anything, tbh. |

They're reducing capacitor use on lasers, so you might as well use an Abaddon. Better tank. Higher damage makes up for shorter range. Tracking is only an issue if you can't pew all the frigates before they get close to you, and then drones get the job done anyway. |

Respectfully, Arthur, I disagree, Abaddon is a different type of ship, a traditional amarr brick. It has less speed, more damage, less cap, smaller cap recharge, larger sig. The two fly completely differently, much like Maelstrom vs. Tempest. Tracking speed and optimal range ties into this in that Apoc still has better damage application even while speeding at a considerable angle relative to the target.
Overall, I'd still call Apoc a better mission ship, though it'll be hard pressed to defeat cruise missile spewing drone boat Armageddon. If the navy variants will be upgraded to their respective changes as well, though, the two will be pretty much equal. |

Yeah they stated in the changes thread that the new Apoc is Amarr's "attack battleship," where as the other two BSes are "combat battleships." Apparently, the goal is to give each race (except Caldari), two "combat battleships" and one "attack battleship," with the latter sacrificing staying power for speed, dash and damage projection. |
