Hey all, was just wondering what kind of speeds the Ships in EVE can reach (without Warp tech, so that includes MWD's). Just wondering as my noobish Merlin can reach near 500 m/s with its Afterburner active (around 290 m/s without it) and I am considering starting Pirating (despite the Merlines weakness, its got quite a nice loadout and i'm packing a LOT of skills to help out)
Also, is it possible to fit a MWD on a basic Frigate or would it consume to much CPU/Power Grid?

There is a topic on the forums somewhere with the fastest speeds of the frigs, cruisers etc
I couldn't find it so you might want to have a look about.

yeah you can certainly reach 4300+ with interceptors with tech2 microwarp drives and overdrives in low.
And to answer your question. Yes microwarpdrives work fine on frigates. The only thing is that when the mwd is on, your signature will go up a lot, which means enemies will hit you a lot harder.

I'm a complete Newbie, but today I did notice that a Slasher (min frigate) with basic AB and basic skills will hit 700+ m/s

I did manage to get a ferox up to about 7500 before the ab nerf.
heh a ferox going that will not turn. it just kinda slews sideways and keeps going straight.

It costs a lot of money and skills to go that fast... around 2-3km/s in a vigil or rifter set up to fight is more realistic (with MWD of course)

pre-exodus when multi-MWD was vogue, it was quite fun to get an Apoc up to 55,000+ m/s...
sure it only lasted for one cycle of the MWD's, but when it shoots you a couple thousand km away it's pretty funny.
