Ship Spinning Inc. is a relatively young endeavor to provide ISK-based slot machines to the lucky pilots of New Eden. You can find our website at http://shipspinning.com
Initially the name was meant as a ploy on pilots' nostalgia about the missing ship spinning. However, we would like to celebrate the return of ship spinning with a contest: design your own slot machine!
The details, as per the [SLOTS] news post here, are:

Objective: Propose the most fun new slot machine you can think of. A slot machine consists of: a collection of 4-6 prizes from cheap to very expensive (no less for the sake of variety, no more for the sake of your win chances), plus a title and description. Prizes must be deliverable in Jita 4-4. That means, I can't give out Avatars, but Avatar blueprints I can. You can propose weighting for the prizes, but ultimately they will be governed by the market.
Prize: Your slot machine will join the ranks of slot machines available, plus your choice of either 100 million ISK to do with as you choose, or 200 million ISK in [SLOTS] credit. Feeling lucky?
Submission: Send me (Viddyi Dukima) a mail with your submission, or post your entry in this forum thread.

Here i got some improvements for ur Site.
Just some suggestions, but maybe u can give me some feedback about the reason to implement or not implement.
- If u have a Station enabled u can see the prices, and when u move your Mouse over a price u can see a tooltip. Maybe its
possible to add the info about the wins within last 24hrs.
Like this:
1,500,000 ISK Credit
Ship Spinning Credit: 1,500,000 ISK
Wins last 24hrs: 3 times
Just as small info w/o searching through "Winners Section" to find out if it would ever spinned yet.
- Changing the colour of all Spinning Costs from white to yellow or smth else, for more overview instead only white Text.
- I would like to see a rearrange of the Stations and prices, from cheapest until the most expensive. Stations up to down
and prices left to right.
- Is it possible to add a "Top Ten" List in the winners section from the players had won the most ISK ( Ships + ISK )
Like this:
1. Shingyoku 435,000,000 ISK
2. Jelrenja Scatterhood 22,500,000 ISK
Actualisation every Day? maybe week, don't know about the realisation possibilities.
- I've noticed that we habe some free space on the News Site. Mabe u can add on the left side of the News the Names from
the Players who won a ship within last 24 hrs. If a Player won 2 or more different ships, should still showed up only one
time.
- My favourite was the idea about the "Biggest Looser Surprise"
 . The player who have the most spins w/o a Price over a
week?/month? Get a special Code who grants some Spin ISK maybe 5,000,000 ISK. Just as small Bonus for his bad luck.
This Code lasts only 3 Days to activate.
To make it fair for all spinners the spins have to count like this
500,000 ISK Spin x1
1,000,000 ISk Spin x2
2,000,000 ISK Spin x4
2,500,000 ISK Spin x5
Example:
Player 1 spins 10 times for 500,000 ISK have 7 spins w/o price so he have 7 BLP (Biggest Looser Points)
Player 2 spins 2 times for 2,500,000 ISK both spin w/o price so he get 10 BLP
So the counter couldn't be manipulated with only spinning low budget Spins and everyone get the same chance.
But the counterpart is who can spend more money collect more BLP
You can make it only per lost spins as 2nd opinion. which from both is the best, you have to decide.
If u implement a BLP Scoreboard is up to u
U can post this into the Forum like this:
Another week of Ship Spinning have passed we had many winners, but also some people with bad luck. This week with a
total of 173 BLP Shingyoku recieved the "Biggest Looser Bonus". We hope he have more luck in the next week.

Whooooa. That's a lot of stuff! Let me address it individually.
Ship prices, number won recently on mouseover. This is a pretty good idea, and not that hard for me to do, since most of the code to do it is already in place. I'll consider it!
Make station costs more visible. Certainly. I didn't think they were that bad, but if it's got you complaining it must be.
Station/price re-arranging. While this is technically pretty trivial to do, I'm not going to do it yet since I have a revamp of the whole station-choosing interface planned. They will be sorted into categories, which will themselves be sortable by price, and station name.
"Top Ten" winner list. I was already thinking of having a display at the top saying how much ISK in prizes has been won so far (similar to how Somer Blink does it). This proposal of yours follows pretty naturally.
Recent winners ticker next to the news. How about shifting the news panel off-center, and then fitting a portrait of the winner and an image of the prize they won? The portrait can also be clickable in game to get to their "Show Info" window for easy contact, and their name could show up on mouse over.
Bad Luck Points. An interesting idea, but I have to sit on it for now and think about how it would work and how I could balance it. See, many (but not all) of the people you see winning ship after ship donate very large amounts of ISK, so the reason they win a lot of ships is simply because they had a lot of tries. They can go for losing streaks, too, and the fact they are using a lot of spins means that I'd be basically giving them more prizes while not doing much for those more casual players (like yourself).
... Why does this sound like a 99% vs 1% argument? OCCUPY SHIP SPINNING.

My idea with then second slot machine was you could win a set of Ammo BPOs so:
1 prize is Large BPO Set: EMP, Phased Plasma, Fusion, Titanium Sabot L Researched BPOs
1 prize is Medium BPO Set: EMP, Phased Plasma, Fusion, Titanium Sabot M Researched BPOs and so on.
I chose projectile as the example because that's what I'm familiar with but them same principle could work with ANY ammo.
Obviously the large BPO set is more expensive than the medium, medium more so than small. The single BPO of your choice would work also but you could use the one slot machine setup with your suggestion as ''Small BPO of your choice"so that you could then choice ammo, hybrid etc. |

I am going to use your first slot machine idea, since it is the closest to what a slot machine should be.
The second one has far too many available prizes. See, how the slots in a slot machine work is, the three reels need to land on the same position. Therefore, if there are (for example) 4 available prizes, if there were 1 of each on each reel, then the chance for winning any one of them would be (1/4)^3, which is 1/64, or 1.5%. The actual slot machines have a different amount of each prize on each reel (amount which is kept a secret between me and my spreadsheets), which leads to different odds for different prizes.
What the problem is with your second reel is that it has 12 prizes. That means that, if I were to have one of each on the reels, you would have a (1/12)^3, or 1/1728, or 0.05% chance to win any of them. If I gave a particular one more weight over the others, then the ones that don't get to be "probable" will have an even lower chance -- leading to the players being completely ripped off. The only solution would be for me to price the slot machine at something like 500 ISK, which wastes everyone's precious time.
That is why I asked submissions to be kept at 4-6 prizes per reel. I have empirically tested that those with 4-6 prizes best provide the best Fun QuotientGäó. |

Actually there are only 4 prizes. Each prize is a SET of BPOs as explained in Post #14. Prizes for the slot machine are as follows:
1 Large BPO set of 4,
1 Medium BPO set of 4,
1 Small BPO set of 4 or
the ISK.
The idea was clear in my head but must have been confusing when I tried to explain it.

As a fan of your site (thou I dont like the winning chance reduction :P), I've decided to propose an idea.
Title: "The Debt Roll"
Description: "No credits? No problems!"
Price to spin: 3,33 million ISKies
Prizes: Vindi, Machi, Nightmare, Rattle, Bhaal
Prereq*: More than 500m spent into spinning with this character.
The point is:
- When a person reaches 0 credits, he can spin into debt, without limit.
- His balance will go into negative.
- If he wins, he should not be able to spin more (untli debt paid).
- The prize can be redeemed via Buyout or recieved via contract only after he pays his full debt.
Thing is, people would be able to try their luck. If they go into xxx billions of debt, you dont loose anything, they dont win anything.
If they win, they have to pay anyway :)
p.s.
Why only pirate BS'? Pirates = underground = illegal casino, debts, deaths and so on :D |

That's an interesting idea indeed... I'll give it some consideration. It would require some extra coding since right now the machines don't support "limits" on who to pay them, nor do they support going into a negative balance, but it sounds like it might work!

Voting will continue for (approximately) 20 days, until Christmas, at which point Santa will be giving the winner of this contest a very well-deserved prize!
Lastly, I have been persuaded to increase the stakes! There will be two prizes now offered:
1st place: Your slot machine will be implemented, and you will receive your choice of either 100 million ISK in cold hard cash, or 300 million ISK in [SLOTS] credit (up from the previous 200 million).
