Im thinking about getting wireless internet so i can play while at work on my laptop, and trying to figure out which plan i should go with. Ive found a good one, but want to know if i would have to step up to 512/128. It will mean more money and thus most likely the death of my plans to play EVE while walking people through how to change their passwords.
So anyone already using 256/64? Any issues?

seeing that people play on 56k-Modems and dialup I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to play EVE on a 64kbit upstream....

you could quite easily do everything in game on any broadband connection. EVE, and most online games, arent all the bandwidth intensive, its just the speed at which it transfers between server + client that matters

256/64 should be enough even for fleet battle. It's the servers that start to lag at some point - not the users bandwith. You'll be fine.

I moved home. So for 3 weeks, I played with a 56k. For 3 accounts. So yes your connexion will do it fine ;). _______________________ Forums DSU |

I run EVE and Ventrilo (VOIP) fine on 56k. I can run two accounts but it gets a bit to laggy for combat.

This is very good news. Well i better start filling out the order forms.
Love to do more than mining but when your in a call centre doing help desk you cant be paying attention every second. This will be dodgy as it is.
Thanks for the info though guys. Much appreciated.

You might receive more 1 second freezes whenever a missile hits you which is what I had, but other than that you should be able to run it fine. _________________________________ God is always on the side with the best artillery. |

Edited by: General Givas on 29/09/2005 16:19:25 I believe EVE is throttled at 28.8Kbs per client connection, so 56k should be fine. Low end broadband even better.
