Hehe...
On my first character, I logged into Science and Trade institute and said hello. Everyone loved me. All was happy.
4 days later, a friend joined. This friend is very, very dense, and very, very lazy.
"How do I do blah blah" "Dude, tutorial" "Blah blah dont want to blah"
So I was in my brand new kessie and I decided to try out pvp on him.
Him: what happens if you die Me: I dunno Me: Hey, come to the Amsen gate. Him: lol why Me: Just come Ill blow you up and stuff. Him: lol k.
He warps to me. We gang up. The way I figured it, I told him I would pvp him, we were in same corp, and GANGED AS WELL! Nothing bad could possibly happen! SO I attacked his Ibis in my kessie... and he popped quickly.
At this point concord showed up and he shouted at me in gang chat
Him: LOL Me: ROFL Him: hey wait dont leave me here
So I got ****ed. I was going to lose my first kestrel, a ship I was REALLY enjoying up to that point.
Him: DONT LEAVE ME HERE Me: Oh... I wont.
I shot his pod. As it disintegrated, I loled, and concord got my ship then, too.
That character still remains. Fenga Montego. -1.3 security status. lol.

I had just gotten my first Imicus and was feeling rather*****y, deciding to go and try out mining in low-sec space (something like 0.7 a few jumps away). Now this was like two years ago so memory is sketchy, but I do remember running into a guy at a gate who apparantly was hostile (think the yellow warning window appeared). He was in a powerful Navitas, a ship I'd never encountered before. Panicking, I locked him and let my civilian blaster loose on him. That he was at some 20km range or so didn't matter.
Apparantly he got schocked as well, so he quickly warped away and started shouting at me in local. My adrenaline and guilt made me all shaky, so I quickly left the system. Afraid I was going to be banned for having so ruthlessly attacked someone, I hid in a backwater system at a moon, hoping the GMs wouldn't find me

I got sniped and podded at a gate a few days ago while in my noob ship. I think the ammo cost more than my losses, and I got a free trip home!

My first PVP was back in March 04 when I joined CELES. We were in GW and had a nifty little group going, jump after jump we were getting closer to the CA gate camp.
Sweating like pig I could hardly control my mouse, listening to every command on Vent. We finally got to the gate and were all sat there. Some commands were issued and we all jumped in:
Shad: Don't uncloak Jonk: **** sorry already have
3 seconds later my BB was dust.
Rather than warp away in my pod I sat there and watched the battle, that was my first taste of PVP and it got me hooked. I finally warped my pod of with about 5% structure
There is nothing more satisfying than jumping in on more ships than you and coming out on top. This is what it is all about.
Live and learn as they say :)

Edited by: JoCool on 30/09/2005 11:23:57 My first pvp encounter was like the third time I played Eve, on a friend's account. I had none at that time. He gave me his logins before, so I logged in to find myself in an Apoc somewhere in the south. There was a fleet gathering in Stain, I knew how to fire weapons and tank as I had fought NPCs before so I joined that fleet. Needless to say, I died because I wouldn't warp out early enough. It was a blast nontheless and my friend would nod when I said his Apoc served the fatherland.
A week later I got my own avatar.

My first PvP was just about 5 days ago actually (not mentioning the part where I shot one laser at some guy stealing my ore). I was happilly jumping gates in my brand new Stabber when someone with a sec. status of -6.8 in a BS decided it was time to stop that.
I think it actually took them (yeah, there was another one in a cruiser as well) over 10 seconds to kill me. Even got some missiles off to the cruiser and do some armor damage before I kicked the bucket. (Could not warp out anyway, might as well fight back)
And the second time was actually yesterday when I just got my new Rupture cruiser and was going to pickup some heavy missile launchers. Darn, I should realy do some scouting before I jump in to 0.4 or less again :(
Still, it's good fun. To bad I am pretty much broke now :P) Blow me up Scotty! |

Two pirates in scorpions jumped me when doing mission in .4 system. My ferox did its best but I was jammed and could not do a thing... It was over in a short while. Just got that ferox. . I most definetly was not paying attention to local.
I¦m mostly in 0.5 systems now and my current ship is a Raven. I only go to low sec now in cheaper ships. A whole lot more carefull to ------------------------- Sunny Iceland, -sland bezt Ý heimi!

My first and only pvp to date (hoping to change that) was in a kestrel. I joined a gang of pvp noobs to go looking for trouble. We were in a low sec system and they spotted a battleship. I have the killmail but don't remember the type. I was so excited when the gang leader said "Let's go", I hit my autopilot and warped away. Upon coming out of warp I warped to a gang member feeling guilty. You probably know what's coming next...I still had not turned off my autopilot, so...I warped away again. Meanwhile my gang mates are getting the sh@t kicked out of them. I finally get the autopilot off and warp back. Now it's just me and one other gang mate who was flying an interceptor.
He was locking down the battleship but gettin hammered by drones. I could see it was hopeless, but feeling guilty I charged in, webbed the battleship and fired. When he leisurely finished off the interceptor, he targeted me, webbed me and scrammed me. Then he fired cruises at me until I popped. I did manage to get away in my pod. It was all very exciting. I now cruise lowsec systems looking for trouble almost always solo.

Nothing terribly exciting:
It was my first character, just got my shiny new Punisher so I asked around in noob corp if anyone was willing to participate in a 1v1, Puni vs Puni.
Had one guy accept the duel so we warped to a moon and ganged; he fired first and the duel was on!
As this was my first character; i had under-equipped my ship, no AB, no low slots filled; civilian shield booster ...
Got him down to half armour then i dieded ; warped to the nearest dock; i thanked him for the ownage i received and he gave me a few tips on ship-fitting and PvP'ing; he also looted my stuff and gave it back to me... nice chap.

My first PvP was actually PPvP last night when two pirates happened upon me in 0.4 while I was rat-hunting. I was already down to 0 cap in my Catalyst when they attacked and it was all over in seconds. I had expected a ransom request before I was in my pod but this came after my ship was destroyed. They wanted 10 million - I said no and ended up buying new clone, new ship, insurance, equipment for about 5 million so it could have been worse really. Was back in the system about an hour later and bumped into one of them at a gate as I was warping out - he hovered around me at about 500ms.
I'll pay a bit more attention to yellow squares when I'm in belts now.

I think my first PVP was by Casey Striker who had just decided to try Piracy for the first time. Was in a belt with a new guy and we invited her over to share the cans as there was too much for us to carry. In she comes ina kestrel and blew him away, then after a while came in a fought my tristan where after an unequal fight saw me off in my pod.
First I was like grrrrrrr then after chatting back and force liked the idea of fighting pirates and have been building up to do it more and more ever since, to paraphrase a quote from Sin City "I love pirates. No matter what you do to them, you don't feel bad.".

First of all, hey there sulan!
I was in an incursus flying around the tama chain when i saw a vigil in an asteroid belt, i locked on and webed him, after a few minutes of fighting (we where both low SP) he blew up, and i begane limping back to safety. just before i warped out someone from snigg warped in and blew me up. two days later i was in MoC, and i've been doing PvP ever since.

Ratting Aunenen in my new Caracal, I watched a lone, neg-sec Merlin jump into my asteroid belt. He didn't lock me until he was about 5k from me. He jammed me, then his buddy warped in and released a swarm of drones. I think I fired one missle salvo. Dead in seconds.
Ever since then, all of my ships follow one construction criteria: CHEAP.

i think my first pvp encounter was 'early' retail, i had just gotten into my 1st megathron (which i couldnt afford to lose) and was npc'n @ the ec-p8r planet spawn, Drunkenmaster [SPVD] (spaceinvaders)entered the 'complex' i knew he was a bad guy, said hello in local, he said hi back, i started killing the npc's and asoon as i was 50% cap, drunken engaged me, i had the lamest setup ever back then, rails or tachyons with 2-3 MWD's, he shot at me, at abotu 20km, 5 seconds later, i was 80km away sniping back at him :) he warped off as he couldnt finish the job he started :) i just went back to npc'n.

What's this "my first PVP was in a bs after I'd played for months lol" stuff?
My first PVP encounter was during my free trial. (Keep in mind I'm still a complete newb, having not served out my first month yet.)
Some friends and I had decided to try mining in a 0.4. We'd been having success with ratting in 0.5 and higher, so figured 'what the heck, how bad can it be'. We read the newbie forums so we knew what to expect if we ventured out of protected space.
We set up at a belt and my friend started mining. He was flying an Imicus, I was flying a Tristan. I was on rat patrol while he mined his little heart out. A third friend had an Iteron already (having specialized in that direction) and was hauling for us.
Out of nowhere, and for no discernable reason, some gimpy-assed wannabe pirate showed up, firing missiles and waving his e-peen around. I slapped my autopilot and warped to the gate, but my friend didn't share my reaction time; the Imicus went boom. The Iteron was out of sector and was duly warned to not return.
We asked the guy wtf his deal was and why he'd trashed the Imicus; only answer was "to be an ass, I guess". We had a jetcan with tons of Jaspet in it that he proceeded to blow up, too -- he couldn't carry all the ore, so took what he could hold, vaporized the rest.
I found this to be quite vexing, so I warped in at range and engaged him with my rails. I wasn't doing much in the way of damage but there was also no return fire; he was outfitted for close work and apparently had no MWD to close on me. Staying out of web range was easy.
I plinked away at him until a buddy of his showed up in a much larger ship (never caught the name of it). When the friend showed, I went for the gate.
...and promptly got chased down in front of it, because he saw what direction I warped. I turned on the afterburners and prayed for deliverance. As the first wave of missiles hit I thought I was a dead man; 75% of my shields were gone in a single attack. The second wave took me down to under 50% armor.
Two interesting things happened here. The first was that the gate guns issued a cutesy automatic message and began firing on my attacker. The second is that I closed within 2500m and successfully jumped (thank you again, oh autopilot gods).
In the aftermath I made a note of the guys that jumped us. After I get some more pvp talent I'm going to hunt them down and trash their gear -- sucks when karma comes around. The pirates that attacked me are directly responsible for me playing the game. I'll play until I'm good enough to get even -- and then some.

Well my very very first char that was in THEMM (Before this one) We had a nifty mining op going with a apoc, mega (Same guy 2 accounts) and few smaller shipps... Then 2 Corp 1 Scorps warp in, everyone gets out except me and the apoc. I watched as they torn the Apoc up, I knew from then that I wanted to fly scorps and to pirate.
Also we had the P1Gs war when I was in THEMM but that was realy unorganised PVP. First ship this char trained up for was the crow, and first kill was a thorax and moa mining op with a friend in a taranis. Another early kill was Me in a BB and a friend in a BB and another friend in a taranis. Apoc warps in at 40km, the taranis scrambles the apoc and we jam him and after a few min of good pounding he was in a pod.

I was a big mouth in the old days before exodus, so i had a duel.
I was a complete nub. Both of us in merlins. Now me not having the light missile skill i had two smartbombs, and i didnt have a clue what 'cap' meant. So i charge in and do as much damage as i can. I couldnt manuever my ship very well... so i went far away before i knew and got bombarded by missiles. POP. I lost. Now we start chatting for a while talking about the first pvp experience. POP. NeBula Orion. Had killed my pod without me knowing a thing! And then i wake up confused in a station. "What the hell just happened"

I got ganked by Mafia doing my noob missions after Exodus where a bunch of them involved 12 jump 1 way trips.. through Amamake.
How did it change my life? It didn't, I finished the mission later.. got paid.. end of story.
Word of advice to noobs: Avoid that Amamake area =P

Second week of the game, back when frigs could still use cruise launchers. Just gotten a kessie and fit a single multispec while my buddy caught a Caracal at mission point with his merlin with -2. Long story short, we slowly ate away at him as he was unable to fight back(EW ftw). That minute and a half of draining him of shield armor than hull made me the full time pirate/pvper i am today.

My frist real kill was a Bantam that i destroyed with my Kessi. Before that i did trick-kill a Thorax togther with a corpmate. He in a Ibis had a passive targeter and shoot the Thorax while i had the lock on the Thorax with my Ibis of doom. Since i had the lock on the Thorax he fired back...on me and was killed by sentry guns. So not really "my kill"...but still a kill on day 1 playing EVE
However the real first kill was a Bantam. Day 3 of EVE: we had a small corp with 3 people. 2 of us were mining in 1.0. Since i already was paranoid on day 3 of EVE i thought we need to defend ourselves and patroled the belt with my Kessi. A ore thief showed up and stole ore from my corpmates. So i conved him and told him to put back the ore instantly or i will blow him up! He made jokes and didnt want to give the ore back. Next time he warped in, i destroyed his Bantam. Concord spawned next to me after the kill and i hit my afterburner (all i could use at that time) to get away. Concord was really easy to evade at that time. My Kessi went 500 m/s and the distance to the Concord troops was slowly growing. But they kept warping to me!!! So i started to warp arround in the system, Concord on my tail for a long time. Finally they stopped hunting me and this was my first succesfull kill - in Kisogo, 2 years ago.
It was soooo much fun to blow up a Bantam and then evade Concord that i instanly wanted to get pirate! Too bad that evading Concord got an exploit later. In the early game it was big fun to be hunted by Concord after a crime.

I got blown up for the first time yesterday on guard duty for a mining op. A couple of player pirates came in. I had planned to warp out at the first sign of trouble but the adrenaline got me and I felt so affronted by them that I stuck it out fighting to the end and lost my much less powerful ship. Most of the miners got out intact and the money we'd made covered losses.
The upside is that the communal spirit in the corp afterward made the game really good to play.
The downside is that the attackers were just griefers really and gloated afterwards in local. I see enough complaints about bad losers smack talking. Well, when the loser in a battle takes it on the chin, the attackers should also have the good grace to not add insult to injury. I guess you've got to accept that some players are nothing more than ego trippers and you can win a moral victory over them every time.
I definitely haven't been put off PvP.
The innocents need not fear me but pirates and griefers beware. One day I'm going to punish you.
