How do I go about repairing any damage to my drones while I am in space? Is there a certain type of module which will allow me to do this?

A remote armour repairer will do it.
Structure damage will have to be repaired in station.

there is a structual repairer aswell :)

Greetings pilots.
what I have found when i'm just fooling around is if you want to keep your drones flying high, I have a remote armor repairer, and a small shield transfer thingy(wouldn't ya know it, the one time I need to know the dang thing's name, it slips my mind) anyhoo, There are two methods i also take when dealing with drones as "lil helpers" (First) wait till all the baddies are hitting you, then release your drones, 9 times out of 10 the baddies will not worry bout the drones, who are happily shredding them to pieces. The other way(if you have remote armor and shield) is let your drones out early, and have them attack first, then the baddies SHOULD attack your drones, and not you. Basically the "baddies" do not switch who they are attacking unless thier target goes out of thier range.
