Hi all
What exactly is classed as empire space.
I have looked on the maps that show what alliances cover what areas and these are generally all round the edges of eve space.
Is empire space all the area in the middle ?

Everything claimed by the Gallente Federation, Caldari State, Amarr Empire or Minmatar Republic

i'd define empire space as anywhere above 0.0, because its then claimed by an NPC entity.

Empire is all non-0.0 There is low security empire and high security.
in .1-.4 space, Concord won't jump in if another player attacks you, but at gates and stations, the sentry guns (if they are there) will shred any player within range of the sentry, that attacks another player.
Often, battleships set up as "snipers" or "tanks" camp gates in these systems. The snipers sit outside of the sentry gun range and shoot you as you jump in or if you don't have an insta, as you travel to the gate from somewhere. The tanks are set up to be able to take the damage from the guns and just sit there at the gate killing other players. Go to Aunenen to see this phenomena as it's almost always camped. Don't take a ship you can't afford to lose LOL.
In .5-1.0 space, concord (the police) will warp in and kill a player that shows agression to another player, but not always before the player is podded. They are a deterrent, since you will lose your ship, but if the person can do enough damage, they can blow your ship up before they get blown up by concord.
Aggression includes (but is not limited to) attacking with NOS, target jamming, warp scrambling, webifying, shooting, or missiles.
In 0.0 there is no protection, except for your friends. That's what alliances are about. If you attack someone who is in an alliance, you are attacking that alliance, and are subject to all the bad stuff that entails. You become an enemy of everyone in that alliance.
Hope this helps.

Sec Status also serve a PvE function, working as a measure on how hard rats and complexes are likely to be. .9 & 1.0 are so secure npc rats wont spawn and the only complexes are either training or tutorial. .8 systems have small groups of weak rat frigs while 0.0 space will contain rat battleships and very difficult complexes.

....and some 0.0 systems, as well. Espigoure, for example, and a few in Aridia.
Any system which shows Sovereignty: Amarr, Gallente, Minmatar, Caldari, or Concord, is "empire" space in that the PvP laws apply there. In the rest of the galaxy (the large majority of it) .. there are no laws.

Correct.
1.0-0.5 is CONCORD space. 1.0-0.1 (with some 0.0 as noted) is Empire space. ------ I generally assume the following: 1. 95% of Empire Carebears don't get 0.0 PVPers. 2. 95% of 0.0 PVPers don't get Empire Carebears. 3. 100% of Ore Thieves steal just to upset the Miners. |
