I was curious. We have modules to upgrade our cargo hold, why dont we have modules to upgrade our drone bays?
Any thoughts?

I must say I fail to see the reason to use such an item.
At least until the drone overhaul with bigger but more powerful drones.
Any specific ship/situation you're thinking of? :s
Although, it would be nice to see Hardwiring implants that gives bonuses to drones and missiles.
/me points at implant slot 8 and wants a useful implant in that group.

I was thinking of my prophecy dalman. I will soon be able to use 6 drones and my drone bay only has room for 5.

You can see in last EVE database there is a Drone Bay expanders.

Yet there is no such thing in teh actual game! I would love something like that.. might make my retriver slightly less defenceless than it already is ... or just an extra 10m3 dronebay :) so i can put those extra 2 mining drones in to help me with my mining operation
Or sacrifice a couple of extra lowslots on my thorax to fit in 2 extra heavy drones :)

i swear i asked the same question a year ago lol. i cant beleve they arnt ingame yet since im sure they would be used quite heavily. just make them exactly the same s the cargo spanders, with the same range of versions, just affecting the drone bay.

But...
Adding a 20% drone expander to your prophecy would allow you to use one more medium drone, which makes your setup worse than using that slot for damage/cap/tank/whatever.
The only exception is mining.
But with the recent MK2 project as well as the introduction of mining barges,
I'm sure CCP think that mining is balanced.
Hence my question why this would be added

It seems like this would make a ship way to overpowered. Thats why this moduel should only increase already existing drone bays. For instance, a industrial ship has 4 of these bad boys on it then it could mine/haul at a alarming rate. And Dalman, Adio shouldnt put one on a prophecy because it has such a delicate setup.
Also I was reading somehwere that their should be a flak gun, like a defender missles. It could auto target missles and drones and go in a high slot. These two modules (drone bay/flak gun) could work pretty well with each other.

What'd I'd like more instead of a bigger drone bay, is a module that allows me to control extra drones (say 3). But it would have to be a highslot module of course...

i agree make the drone bay expander like the probe launcher eg high slot. that way my badger mk2 could actaully use its second high slot  also you can then restrict the use of the aformentioned expanders by putting on a reseaonable cap and power req.

oh terrible.. someone might put a Harvester drone in that slot and *GASP!* the thing might actually come close to a frigate at mining

Might make the sucker less of a sitting DUCK... then again. 1 Medium Drone? im gonna take a whole... err HALF a NPC down?
Meh.. i say make em a lowslot... if ya willing to have an extra 10m3 dronebay instead of armor rep/ODI/etc
so be it. it IS only an extra 10m3 a whole Medium Drone!
Could make life interesting, if your willing to sacrifice hold or Speed for drones...

Yes, infact there is.
There's an implant which gives you +5% to mining yield. Expect to pay some 400M for it though :p
