Okay, this is related to one of the following things, I guess: 1) Ship agility 2) Lag.
In the hours I've had my shiny new ship, I've gotten the "warp bug" THREE TIMES. Three times, in less than two hours. It has happened twice or so before. What happens is, that you find yourself in "warp drive", at a low speed for warping, your ship is slowing down at a low rate (I'm currently at 200km/s after a minute or so). It also seems the ship turns itself 20-30 degrees to one side when this happens...
Has this happened to anyone else? As I said - I got my ship today, but it has also been a hell of a laggy day, so I don't know which one I should blame. Anyway it's very annoying.
After writing this entire post, reading it once, thinking about writing more, plus writing this, my ship is finally warping for real.

Yes I've had it too. Tonight has been appalling in terms of lag - I can only assume something major (like battles) was going on tonight and that was lagging out the database.
The alternative is that the "extended, extended and extended some more" downtime actually has screwed things up more than if they hadn't done it

Until next patch you can use ABs and WMDs to cure this effect.
It seems that cruisers and industrials (and presumably battleships and titans) turn to warp, but decelerate their turning thrusters before the warp target is in the acceptable warp activation cone... leaving you turning slooooooooooooowly until you reach the magic boundary, forbidden to navigate since you are, of course 'in warp' at that point. ------------=o0O+O0o=------------ Peg Wench

i hope they just remove all the solid objects and allow us to clip thru them. I hate how stations or asteriods stick to you and you cant escape ---

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about getting stuck in deep space, AU's from the nearest object, just slowing down, down, down until you're down at your base speed - then it starts warping again. |

Er, That's Supposed to happen. Your stopping because you've warped as far as your capaciter allows, then you stop for a few seconds to allow the capaciter to recharge and warp again. -------------------------------------------- "Let me guess. Edited by: Ruulex DeMors on 01/08/2003 05:20:16 Cptn that's not what he's refering to. What he's describing has only happened to my in an Osprey. What happens is, I select to warp to an asteroid field then I warp the wrong direction, exactly 180 degress the wrong direction. Then my Osprey would SLOWLY come to a stop (note Ospreys have very very poor deceleration/acceleration rates), then I would turn and warp to the correct field. But it wasted a full 3 minutes with what should have taken 10 seconds. At least that's what I think he's describing. ------------------------------------- Interm-CEO for EVE Marshals http://www.EVEMarshals.com |

What the original poster is referring to is a bug that seems to rear its head when you switch ship types. This is most prevalent when switching from a frig to a cruiser or a cruiser to a BS.
If you log out for 5 mins AFTER changing ships, this usually fixes it.

Edited by: Entity on 01/08/2003 10:46:40 It's reproducable for me too, Buy a shuttle, assemble it, switch to the shuttle, undock -> Ahead warp 7 Mr. Sulu! So far it did it with every single shuttle I bought. (All were caldari shuttles though)
Oh wait, different bug, same symptom. Ah well I get that warp bug too, you either jump at the star of a system and try to warp, you do two warps, or undock and end up at a star and get the same thing.

Exactly. It's like getting up to warp speed, then slowing down like usual - very slowly. I've got loads of cap, so that's not the problem (also it was about 75% at the time). Of course I know what happens when you're out of cap when warping.

Yeah, had this a couple of times. Can't remember when/where, but I remember it involving relogging. Thought it was just a one-off though .

I know Jarjar said he was AU from any object, but the only time I've had this problem recently is when I jump into a system right by the sun. The ship doesn't like warping 'through' the sun, so "goes around a bit" first.
Still damned annoying. I guess what's needed to get it looked at is some .lwb files.

Great example of this bug is the Sun Warping Effect (its what I call it) or Sun Bug. Happens when you come into a system (its a random thing) and you jump into the system next to the sun but it shoots you out of it at a HIGH speed and well takes about 2-5 min to slow down to a speed that you can actually turn your ship to warp to the next gate.
Only seen this happen when autopilots on so im not sure what the cause of this is. All I know its rare when I do get it for how much I travel around the systems and if you go back to the system that it happened doing everything the same it won't happen.
Max speed coming out of this has been 9 AU/sec (wish the screen shot button worked) but dropped to 1 AU/Sec really quick so im not sure if that was a correct reading. But as usuall took a year and a half for it to come to a turning position.
