Edited by: Tesk Malloc on 23/10/2003 22:51:50 I am curious about the seeker agents that some of you have posted messages regarding. What exactly is the function ofthese agents in regard to bounty hunting/finding other characters/players?
In reward for helping me (or even just reading my post) you may click on the following link...

if you mean the corp agents (which i think you dont, but im going to assume you do anyways)... THEY SUCK, bastards over charge and under pay. ive done 50+ missions for those @&*#%^@(^%#"}{@&%#'s and i still get paid 15k or lower a mission. it's a waste of time unless you're just starting out and want to buy a miner 1.

They are used to try to locate another player. I'm not sure what the limit on their range is (it might depend on their quality), but I think I've read something about it being the current Region they can search.

Okay...
Agents vary in two ways
1) Quality 2) Level
Everyone starts out with a Level 1 agent. The missions aren't that great in terms of reward but should just be seen as a route to a higher agent. My level 1 agents on average paid me about 10k or so per mission.
(Some) Level 1 agents will offer the ability to find people - but only in the system you are in.
The quality of the agent determines how quickly he is likely to refer you to other same or higher level agents and has an incremental effect on the fee for each mission.
To give you a ballpark you would normally have to undertake about 40 to 50 missions with the same level 1 agent in order to be referred to a Level 2 (it does vary tho).
A Level 2 agent does pretty much the same as the Level 1's except they will normally pay you better. I was paid anywhere between 15k and 45k for my missions from my level 2 agent.
(Some) Level 2 agents wiill offer you the chance to find people in the system + constellation. You need to complete somewhere between 60 and 90 missions with your Level 2 agent to be referred to a Level 3 agent.
Level 3 agent are not that dissimilar from Level 1 and 2 agents. However the pay per mission varies from 45k at the low end to 95k at the top end.
A level 3 agent will offer to find people for you in the system, constellation and region. I am not sure how many missions you need to complete with your level 3 before he refers you to a level 4 but I assume it would be around 100?
At the moment no missions are implemented for level 4 & 5 agents - Some people have been referred to level 4's but this is pointless atm. (Not sure if they offer search or slave facility yet)
I assume by the time level 5 agents are properly implemented that you will be able to ask your level 5 agent to do a universe wide search for a person - which will be an extremely handy tool for bounty hunters!
Oh yes - I forgot to mention slaves. Some agents will also offer you the facility to buy a limited number of slaves at a knockdown price every 12hrs or so. My Amarr Civil Service Level 3 agent sells me 26 slaves every 12 hours for around 350 isk each (Market rate is over 700 isk each). You will also be offered the opportunity to bribe certain aganets - altho apart from improving some faction ratings I am not sure what this achieves (maybe somebody could explain this)
Finally with regard to the Quality and Standing of an agent this not only has an effect on how soon you get refered to a new agent and the quality of that agent but also has an impact on the amount you get paid per missions.
At the moment I have three Level 1 agents (only done missions with one though), I have four Level 2 agents (again only done missions with one) and just one Level 3 agent...
Hope that helps!
ps. The missions forum is probably a better place to read about agents and missions...
