I recently started a new toon, Carefully adding up the time it would take to get all the ship skills in under the wire then double and triple checked it.
I trained Cyber-V first and started the Cerebral Accelerator with a set of +5 implants, of course the game doesn't show you how many SP you are getting if it is over 2700sp/h but the training queue does update appropriately and both Evemon and Eve HQ download the API info and show the corrected training times.
The problem didn't make itself evident till I finished (well thought I finished) BC-V. I log into the new toon to add some more ship skills to the queue and I find that I have 2 days left of training BC-V. I can only assume that the Cerebral Accelerator expired and all the bonuses it was giving over the last 3 weeks was removed. Now before anyone states the obvious, I know it the accelerator only works for 30 days on toons less than 35 days old. But what I didn't know was that any skill not completed before the 30 days are up will revert back to their full training time negating any bonus applied during the training. Looks like I will be 2d 1h shy of getting all the skills completed for June4th.
Anyways Petition sent, just figured it should be documented here as well for anyone else trying to get BC-V Dessy-V and Command-1 done before June 4th. Reason and logic never wins over Stubborn and Convinced (But I still try..) |

Anyways Petition sent, just figured it should be documented here as well for anyone else trying to get BC-V Dessy-V and Command-1 done before June 4th. What I think you experienced is this:
1. BC V was training at 3150 sp/hr because of Cerebral Accelerator and +5 implants. 2. Cerebral Accelerator expired. 3. BC V continued to train at 3150 sp/hr. 4. You made a change to the the training queue. 5. Time remaining was instantly recalculated because Cerebral Accelerator was no longer active.
I don't think you would have lost any SP that had already been accumulated.
This happened to me once, and I kicked myself. The moral of the story is that if you have a skill that was started while a booster is active, and the booster expires. don't touch the skill queue until the skill finishes. I have a few running right now that will have long skills started a few days before the CA expires, and expect them to train at full speed until complete.
All this is based on my past experience, and of course it's possible recent changes have been made and I am wrong.

Manny Moons: No, don't do it. :) I set BC-V to train updated EVEmon and EVE-HQ compared them to the EVE training QUE and then ignored the account for 15 days when I logged in to move it to a station local to my main and observed that I had 4 days left. When the queue was supposed to finish I logged in with (according to EVEmon) 9 hours left. The accelerator expired the previous day, but I assumed that since I would only be without the 3150 sp/hr boost for one day that the worst case would be a few more hours, certainly not 2 days. :(
If I had know this was a possible effect I would have trained all the short skills (frig and cruiser) before it ran out, from the looks of it I did not receive any of the accelerators benefit for the last 19 days of it's activation.
I don't know if CCP has recognized this as a problem and has adjusted it to prevent 30 day training that start on the 29th day of the accelerator, But whatever they did it made a mockery of my well timed and thought out training blitz. I will be 2 days shy of Dessy-V but I will have injected Command ships and completed all the cruisers to 3 so no huge loss but frustrating nonetheless.

Fun fact: you lost more time by training Cybernetics 5 than you gained by plugging in +5 implants. |

But I will save 45 days over the next 24 months, of my training plan. As this toon will probably not undock for the next 9 months I am primarily concerned with making sure I get the most out of each hour. Reason and logic never wins over Stubborn and Convinced (But I still try..) |

Thats a waste...At least train directly into what youre gonna be flying and do it with t1 modules. There is no reason any character should be completely inactive for 9 months straight just training skills. Its people like you who make this game seem so daunting for new players. |

Sorry you feel that way, But the ship this toon is going to sit in is not something you put T1 modules on. Anyways the main point of this thread had nothing to do with what you consider a valuable addition to EVE, it was about the 'Glitch' that can occur in a training queue if a skill is not completed before the cerebral accelerator runs out.
As I have two other toons that I have trained from 0 skill points to well over 60 mil and one toon that exceeds those by more than double, I believe that my perspective of what I need is much more important to me than your apparent perspective of 'the minimum will do.' As I have a 4 year plan for this toon, I figure 9 months of training is appropriate, backing that up by over 230 million total SP I have invested into various toons I am not sure if you are as well qualified as I at deciding what is best for me of for EVE.
If in someway I am ruining EVE for other players by not Undocking a toon that has not finished training the proper skills to fly a 100 billion ISK then I think you are giving me way to much credit. Reason and logic never wins over Stubborn and Convinced (But I still try..) |

someone correct me please if I am wrong
Umm. Yeah but the 35 day is a +3 not a +7, and the +9 is a 14 day boost. Reason and logic never wins over Stubborn and Convinced (But I still try..) |

Most people train specific alts on very specific remaps that make them unplayable for a while, I'd never recommend anyone to do that at the start on their main. |

Yep, I started an alt and I'm not even going to undock it for like a year and a half. It's that bad. |

I undock mine to scoop skill books and plexes jettisoned by an anonymous donor.

After two mails to the GM handling this petition, my lost SP due to the 'glitch' were reimbursed and my training queue is back on track for the fourth.
Thanks CCP and the GM for looking into this and getting it sorted. You my friend,-ádefy the whole theory of natural selection. |
