I return to the game after a couple years away and login and find my cyclone I have been flying for years with 5 missile hardpoints.... really? missiles? wtf are matar ships caldari now? hilarious.
then i read the odysee notes and I see ph00n is going to be a missile ship. what? what?
CCP, what are you guys smoking???

It's a fcking better raven than a raven. wtf does a phoon have to do w/a raven. IT'S MATAR. For people who flew phoon for years, this is like being married to a hot babe for 10 years and one day you come home from work and you are now gay married to a 200lb 5 foot tall greasy fat man.

But the phoon... it is a legendary love of many pilots. You can't just turn a phoon into a raven and not say 'wtf just happend'.
The new phoon is not a phoon at all. it's some new ship that happens to have the name of an old mighty icon of a very, very special eve ship. RIP phoon :(
But to your point, the phoon was alreayd a gun/missile ship. It already had those two weapon systems. It did not need to change to have those two weapon systems. This is what I do not understand.
And on the cyclone... I fly a cyclone as a gunboat for many years. I log in and it's not a gunboat anymore. Not even close. What is it now, a wimpy drake? that's a caldari ship. What is a cyclone now? Can anyone answer that? Is it a wannabe drake?

The specific issue with the Typhoon was it's a pain in the as to use because of its kitchen sink approach where you have to be able to use EVERYTHING to actually use one.
It was one single special ship. If you had the skills for it (which I do) it is a pure sweet swiss army knife of goodness.
IMO, there was no need to turn it into a raven. Even if the they wanted to change it fine, but don't turn it into a caldari tub. That's so un-Matar (or, I guess, it used to be when sanity lived).
I don't really get yuor 'Variety is so awful isn't it?' comment. They are taking away variety (phoon == raven), not creating more variety. |

If you really want it, I'm sure it could be arranged. I'm not going to use it for sure. It does have a red 8th slot which is kind of fun (because that slot doesn't exist anymore but had a rocket launcher in it pre-rebalance), and turrets in the missile hardpoints.
I also have a useless Hulk with 2 *LARGE* cargo rigs I'm willing to part with. It has been alive since 2004 and mined many effing many roids, but it's now useless to me after the rebalance. I also have an old drake with large rigs in it from before the rig rebalance thing years back. |
