I've got my Rifter decked out in cool gear at the moment, and I'm able to solo every level 2 mission with relative ease ( <3 200mm tungsten plate). I am wondering if it is going to be possible to change to level 3 missions once I get the standings. I'm doing combat missions for the Caldari Navy, the only mission I haven't gotten yet is Damsel in Distress, but I eagerly await that one because I hear it is difficult.
Anyway, is it possible in a Rifter, or am I going to have to wait until I get my wolf?

Just a question here: how do you complete silent the informant level 2 with your rifter? I tried several time and I keep getting pawned by the 4 missile frigs at the gate in stage 2. Don't really bother anymore as I stoped trying and did them in punisher and now in rupture/stabber, but still would be interested in knowing, I could certainly learn from your tactics to flight better my rifter :)
PS: I found that damsel was easier than silent the informant, don't know why everybody says it's the harder one ;)

When I started EVE, I thought EVE would require dedication and long term planning. I could never dream that the third ship I piloted would be the end of the line.

The drone part isn't too bad, unless I pick up the entire level, then I warp out and back in.
On the second floor, I turn on my Cold-Gas whatever named Afterburner and charge the nearest big ship. I orbit the biggest ship at 500 while blasting at any other ship within 4000km, once I take them down I focus on the bigger ones. Most of the ships use Flameburst missiles, and I'm built for armor tanking. My shields are gone in 2-3 hits, but the armor holds up usually. Again, sometimes I get too much aggro and I need to warp, but I've yet to need to retreat and repair. I always just warp to a belt and warp back.
My current build is:
Hi: 1x 150mm light 'scout' autocannon 2x 200mm light prototype automatic cannon (couldn't afford scouts) 1x Arbalest Rocket launcher
Med: Cold-Gas something, 120% tech1 afterburner Fixed-Parallel Link Capacitor I
Low: 200mm reinforced rolled tungsten plate Small something polarized armor repair
Once I get engineering 4, it'll be 3x 200mm light scout, but by the time I have engineering 4, my new Succubus will be fully equipped and Rifter will be on hold until I get my Wolf.

No.
Rifter lacks the damage output and tanking ability for level 3's (except perhaps some of the really easy ones )

I will have to agree. While the rifter is a nice ship, without tech 2 weapons and an AF, i don't think you can do level 3's. Most cruisers can handle them with relative ease, although damsel in distress cost me a tempest as I hadn't played in about a year and their revamp on the way damage is dealt screwed me over when i got warp scrambled. Couldn't kill the ittys or frig near me and lost it.
An expensive mistake I've learned well from.

Edited by: Carinae on 07/10/2005 15:18:05 'Damsel in distress' is possibly one of the easiest L3 missions when done in a certain manner.
I use a Wolf, I ignore all the hostiles and head directly to the prison using my AB. When the prison is in range of my 4x 200mm T2 I open fire then, the priority is to blow open the prison as soon as possible. IGNORE incomming fire, as long as you are armour tanked it should not be a problem.
As for doing this mission in a Rifter, it may be possible if you tank you ship up as best you can. (Including a Nos and armour repairer)
As soon as the prison pops, pick up the loot and run.
It is possible to do this mission in ten minutes from acceptance to completion and it is a nice reward.
